| With the continuous aging of the population, the life needs of the elderly are increasingly receiving social attention. In order to address this, the government has introduced a series of policies to continuously improve the level of aging-appropriate construction of public service facilities, and the aging appropriateness of public service facilities has become a hot topic in academia. The distribution of the elderly population in the old city area is relatively dense, and public service facilities have been built for a long time, and inadequate consideration was given to agingappropriate design during their construction, making it difficult to meet the current usage needs of the elderly. The vegetable market in the old city area as a public service facility used frequently by the elderly has a direct impact on their daily living quality.Conducting aging-appropriate evaluations and update studies on vegetable markets has important theoretical significance and practical value.Based on this, the study selects a vegetable market in the Shanda Road area of the old city of Jinan as the case study subject, using literature research, questionnaire surveys, and Analytical Hierarchy Process(AHP)to first investigate and summarize the usage behavior characteristics and needs of the elderly for vegetable markets in the old city area.Secondly, based on usage needs and combining satisfaction survey results, evaluation indicators are identified,a aging-appropriate evaluation system for the old city vegetable market is constructed, and empirical applications are made. Finally, based on typical issues,aging-appropriate update strategies for the old city vegetable market are proposed from the three levels of surrounding environment, outdoor space, and indoor space,in order to provide a reference for agingappropriate updates of the old city vegetable market and better serve the living needs of the elderly.First, understand and master the relevant theoretical basis and research status.Researching relevant theories on aging-appropriateness lays the foundation for constructing an aging-appropriate evaluation system, and mastering theoretical basis for investigating elderly use behavior and needs helps to understand the hierarchical content of elderly needs.Analyzing current research status can provide knowledge about research methods and behavioral activities of the elderly, the current research progress and direction of market updates and renovations, and also provide methods, content, and hierarchy of public facilities aging-appropriate evaluation.Second, investigate and analyze the elderly’s characteristics and needs of vegetable market usage.Based on behavioral surveys analyzing the elderly’s vegetable market usage behavior characteristics,it is found that walking is the main mode of transportation, the time spent on trips for purchasing vegetables is mostly concentrated before 8 a.m.,the one-way trip time is mostly within 15 minutes, the total trip time is mostly between 30-60 minutes, the one-way trip distance is within 1000 m,and usage frequency is high with diversified usage content.Combining basic characteristics of the elderly, basic needs of elderly usage of vegetable markets are summarized, which include safety, convenience, comfort, and diversity.Conducting basic needs research further clarifies the specific needs of the elderly in the surrounding environment, outdoor space, and indoor space, which supports the construction of the aging-appropriate evaluation system for vegetable markets.Third, construct the aging-appropriate evaluation system and apply it empirically to the vegetable market analysis.Based on the comparison and analysis of satisfaction survey results and vegetable market space components,24 evaluation indicators representing the safety, convenience, comfort, and diversity needs of the elderly were identified. The indicators were categorized from the three levels of surrounding environment, outdoor space, and indoor space, and the weights were determined using the Analytic Hierarchy Process, thereby constructing an agingappropriate evaluation system for the old city vegetable market, which includes 3 criteria-level indicators,12 element-level indicators, and 24 indicator-level indicators. An evaluation was conducted on four vegetable markets in the Shanda Road area of Jinan, measuring the level of aging-appropriateness and preliminary verification of the feasibility of the evaluation system.According to the evaluation results, typical aging-appropriateness problems of the old city vegetable market in the surrounding environment, outdoor space, and indoor space were summarized. Finally, according to the typical problems, the aging update strategy of the old city vegetable market is proposed. In terms of the surrounding environment of the vegetable market, improve transportation facilities to improve walking safety, optimize facility configuration to improve service convenience, and enrich street greening to improve environmental comfort;in terms of outdoor venues in the vegetable market, optimize site traffic to improve walking safety, strengthen facility configuration to improve use convenience, and improve activity space to enhance activity diversity;in terms of the indoor space of the vegetable market, improve safety facilities to improve space safety, and enrich service facilities to enhance shopping convenience. This study deepens the understanding of elderly use and their needs of vegetable markets. The aging-appropriate evaluation system and update strategy proposed can provide practical guidance for the renovation of the Shanda Road vegetable market in Jinan, and also provide methods and references for aging-appropriate updates and renovations of the old city vegetable market. |
