The 20 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China pointed out that it is necessary to build a Chinese path to modernization in which human and nature coexist harmoniously,and established to building an ecological civilization is vital to sustain the Chinese nation’s development.At present,domestic ecological city construction is proceeding in an orderly manner under the background of " Double Urban Repairs ",and phased results have been achieved in urban greening transformation,micro-space renewal,and parking lot construction.However,in the process of urban renewal and construction in China at the present stage,there is a lack of systematic framework guidance and collaborative innovation of interdisciplinary cooperation at the theoretical side.At the technical side,most of them are single and inefficient technical means,and it is urgent to introduce advanced concepts and guidance and practice paradigm.Based on its unique concept of urban metabolism,the Dutch FABRICations design studio implemented the project practice of "Urban Metabolism: Sustainable Development Of Rotterdam",using the method of urban metabolic analogy to study the metabolic process of resource circulation in urban ecosystems,aiming at optimizing the problem of resource utilization efficiency in linear metabolic processes and establishing an urban sustainable development framework for Rotterdam.This concept and practice are highly advanced and applicable to the urban ecological renewal in China.This thesis analyzes the urban metabolism concept and practice of FABRICations from the research background,and establishes a sustainable urban development framework in line with China’s national conditions,with the purpose of providing a new perspective for China’s urban ecological renewal.This article is divided into six parts.The first part is the introduction.By analyzing the research background of this thesis,it conducts an in-depth analysis of issues such as the renewal of old urban areas,the transformation of energy structure,and the improvement of space quality in the process of urban development.After a literature review,the urban ecological renewal design pattern guided by the theory of urban metabolism is determined.This research mainly consists of theoretical origin,case study,framework construction and research design,with the purpose of establishing a sustainable mode of city development,through the method of interdisciplinary research and formulating the research framework of this article.The second part is the origin of the theory,starting from the development history of FABRICations design studio,tracing its basic theories related to urban metabolism,explaining the seven principles of circular economy,six strategies for developing healthy cities and four goals for building ecological cities in detail.This research compared its urban metabolism concept with European ecological cities and advanced firms from the perspective of region and concept,and further clarified that FABRICations’ urban metabolism concept is uniquely advanced and pioneering.The third part is a case study,combining theory with practice.It analyzes the urban metabolism practice project "Urban Metabolism: Rotterdam Sustainable Development" of FABRICations,and systematically summarizes the design process and framework of urban ecological renewal under the guidance of the concept of urban metabolism.Starting from the background of the case,it analyzes its project profile and studies the optimization strategy and impact assessment at the two scales of region and city based on the material flow analysis method,aiming to extract theoretical methods and design principles applicable to domestic urban ecological renewal.The fourth part is the framework construction.Based on the origin of the above concepts and case studies,it summarizes and refines the theoretical methods and design principles of urban ecological renewal under the guidance of the concept of urban metabolism,and concludes the design process suitable for the sustainable development of cities in China.Summarize the element characteristics and material flow design principles of the resource cycle metabolism system from the analysis method,then summarize the design process from the aspects of element extraction,system boundary,data source,etc.,and finally summarize the design points from the element,technology,and space levels and propose a data accounting method.So far,the research framework of urban sustainable development suitable for China has basically been established.The fifth part is a research design,taking Jinan as an example to carry out urban ecological renewal design to verify the feasibility of the urban sustainable development framework.Based on the design process summarized above,resources and spatial elements related to material flow in Jinan City were extracted and problems were found by drawing Sankey diagrams.Four optimization strategies were proposed from the aspects of old city renewal,energy transformation and space quality,and the cycle metabolism data was calculated and compared.Basically,it verifies the feasibility of the concept of urban metabolism to guide the ecological renewal of China’s cities.The sixth part is the conclusion,which summarizes the main research results of this thesis and reflects on the shortcomings,and finally makes an outlook on the future development of China’s urban ecological renewal. |
