Controlling indoor air humidity and pollutant concentration is very important for life quality and human health.In addition to the advantages of temperature and humidity independent control and the use of low-grade heat energy,the liquid desiccant air conditioning system(LDACs)also has impact on indoor air quality.Acidic potassium permanganate solution can be used as an effective absorbent for indoor formaldehyde and also a kind of sterilizing agent,and solution can also capture some particles when contact with air.Therefore,in order to further improve the air purification ability of the LDACs,this paper proposed to combine the acid potassium permanganate solution with the LDACs,and formaldehyde removal was studied in detail.In this paper,the chemical reaction and mass transfer process of removing formaldehyde in acidic potassium permanganate solution were analyzed.The effect of acid potassium permanganate solution on removing formaldehyde and the feasibility experiment of combining with LDACs were carried out.It found that the reaction between acidic potassium permanganate and formaldehyde did not produce harmful gases.Absorption of formaldehyde by acid potassium permanganate solution is gas-filmcontrol process.The chemical reaction will decompose the dissolved formaldehyde to maintain the driving force of absorption in the solution and avoid the solution becoming a pollution source.Within 8 weeks,the concentration of potassium permanganate in the acidic environment was maintained at about 47mmol/L,which was stable.Before dehumidification,passing through acidic potassium permanganate solution will increase the dehumidification load,but it has no effect on dehumidification efficiency.Therefore,it’s feasible to removal formaldehyde by acid potassium permanganate solution and combine it with LDACs.In this paper,based on VOF model and solute permeability theory,a two-dimensional model of falling film absorption of formaldehyde was built by Fluent.The influence of various parameters on formaldehyde removal was studied by using the control variable method.It was found that the formaldehyde removal effect could be enhanced by selecting the counterflow type,reasonably reducing the air velocity,increasing the solution velocity and the number of packed towers,while the difference of formaldehyde concentration in inlet air and solution temperature has no effect on removal effect.The results also show that the more formaldehyde dissolved in the inlet solution,the lower the removal efficiency of formaldehyde,and even the solution itself will become a formaldehyde pollution source.In the process of formaldehyde released by the regenerator,the higher the temperature is,the more formaldehyde is released,but only0.15% formaldehyde is released from the solution at most.Therefore,it is necessary to use chemical methods to remove formaldehyde in the solution in time.It is not feasible to remove formaldehyde only by temperature rise.In this paper,a clean and dehumidification air conditioning system combined with acid potassium permanganate solution is proposed.A purifying spray tower was built and aerodynamic test bed was introduced.The purpose,conditions and procedure of the experiment are introduced.
