The strategic partnership of win-win cooperation between China and the Democratic Republic of the Congo(DRC)will be deepened and substantiated as China further opens up to the outside world and the DRC develops itself, the potential of bilateral trade and investment cooperation will also be further unleashed. The investment of Chinese-invested enterprises in mining and related industries in DRC has begun to take shape,DRC is also regarded as one of the preferred countries for overseas mining investment by Chinese mining investors.More and more Chinese enterprises enter into DRC and occupy an important position in the field of DRC’s mining sector. The projects undertaken by Chinese companies have spread across the DRC,which has made important contributions to their economic and social development and improvement of people’s livelihood.Chinese enterprises are mostly in the southern region to carry out the mining operations, but there are no seaports in the southern for the cargos enter into directly. All the materials which want to enter into or out of the southern region of DRC need transferred from the seaports in the third country, they need transport a very long distance, across three or four countries, this leads to high transportation cost, long transportation time and great transportation risk.In addition, during the transportation process will involves the use of various transportation facilities and multiple transportation,in order to make sure the smooth progress of the project, the transport side must develop a set of scientific and reasonable transport scheme.which requires that the to make sure the cargo delivery to the project site safety and timely.A good transport scheme is not only beneficial to reduce the investment cost of mining enterprises, but also plays a very important role in shortening the transport cycle and reducing the transport risk. This article takes the cargo transportation for the project of J company in DRC as an example, with many years of working experience in logistics and transportation for DRC,through the review of relevant literature and combined with the characteristics of the goods, the transportation environment in DRC,the mode of transportation and transportation route analysis, through the analyzes for the problems of J company and their current transportation status, this paper studies the whole transportation scheme design of goods from China to DRC project site.Firstly, seven transportation schemes are given, then experts are given marks through questionnaires, later the weights of several important indexes affecting the transportation scheme are determined by analytic hierarchy process, finally, the best transportation scheme which suitable for this project is selected through comprehensive evaluation and selection method. The final conclusion is that for the container shipment, the preferred scheme is to transport the cargo from China to the port of Dar Es Salaam in Tanzania by sea, then transport from the port of Dar Es Salaam to Ndola,Zambia by rail, and finally transport the cargo from Ndola to the DRC jobsite by truck. In the case that railway transportation is not feasible, the preferred scheme is to transport the cargo from China to the port of Dar Es Salaam in Tanzania by sea,and then transport the cargo with trucks from the port to the DRC project site. For the BULK shipment, the preferred scheme is to transport the cargo from China to the port of Durban in South Africa by sea,and then transport the cargo to DRC project jobsite by trucks via Zimbabwe and Zambia. There are 18 figures,14 tables and 36 references in this paper.
