Abstract/Summary:
By the end of 2021,Chinese highway mileage and car ownership have ranked first in the world,and the maintenance mileage has reached 99% of the highway mileage.Highway maintenance and management has become the focus of Chinese transportation construction.As one of the diseases of asphalt pavement,potholes will cause vehicle damage and have a great impact on driving safety and traffic,especially under the condition of high-speed driving,this impact is often disastrous.At present,the research on potholes are mostly focuses on the identification and repair.There are few basic content research on potholes,such as evaluation system of potholes affecting traffic,the different impacts on traffic between different types of potholes,the improvement effect of different coping strategies adopted by road administration departments on traffic etc.Carrying out the above research has great significance to quantitatively evaluate the harm of potholes,reduce vehicle damage and casualties,reduce time loss,and promote the timely response of road administration departments.The main contents and results of this paper are as follows:(1)This paper systematically analyzes the factors which can affect the harm of the potholes and the possible losses of road users when vehicles encounter the potholes.The paper analyzes the traffic characteristics of the potholes by using the traffic wave theory and summarizes the traffic flow of three different avoidance modes.A comprehensive evaluation system is established from three aspects: safety,time loss and the change of service level of road users to reflect the impact of potholes on traffic from all angles.(2)Taking the two-way six lane highway as the research object,the simulation model is established by VISSIM to change the location and size of the potholes,and change the traffic parameters.The simulation model is used to simulate and analyze the impact of the potholes on the traffic.The simulation results show that when the potholes is located in different lanes,the difference of impact on traffic is related to the specific location of the potholes,but generally,the potholes located in the middle lane has a greater harm;When the potholes is located in different positions of the same lane,the potholes on the wheel track belt has a greater harm;When the potholes have different sizes,the larger potholes have a greater harm.(3)This paper selects the response strategies commonly used by the road administration department,such as setting warning signs and releasing potholes information in advance to shunt vehicles,and clarifies the improvement of the response strategies on the traffic through simulation.The simulation results show that when the potholes are small and the vehicle decelerates,setting of warning signs can improve the traffic,and the effect is the best when the warning signs are set at 150 m away from the potholes;Releasing potholes information in advance also has a good improvement effect,and the larger the shunting proportion,the better the improvement effect.When the potholes are big and the vehicle bypass,setting warning signs can not improve the traffic.In this case,the improvement effect is slightly better when the warning signs are set at 350 m away from the potholes;However,releasing potholes information in advance still has a good improvement effect,and the larger the shunting proportion,the better the improvement effect.(4)Combined with the above research results,this paper puts forward suggestions to road administration departments and road users from different aspects,defines the operation process of potholes information management platform and potholes information release cooperation platform,and analyzes the ranking of harm of different types of potholes,so as to effectively reduce the possible harm of potholes.The research content and results can quantitatively evaluate the impact of potholes on traffic,make up for the lack of basic research in this area,and have reference value for building a comprehensive response strategy and real-time response system.
