| With the development of tourism, visitor centres have emerged, equipped with functions that allow visitors to gain a deeper understanding of the natural beauty and human customs of tourist attractions.Visitor centres are created in a specific geographical environment and therefore have a regional character. As the first window of a tourist attraction, the question of how to meet the required functions while at the same time reflecting the regional characteristics has become one of the hot issues of discussion. This thesis takes the interior design of the Long Family Courtyard Visitor Centre as a carrier, aiming to disseminate the regional culture of the location through its interior design.By studying the theories related to visitor centres, analysing in depth their five main functions of guidance, service, recreation, distribution, education and interpretation,as well as the four main facilities that a visitor centre should have:service, management, transportation and infrastructure, comparing excellent practical cases at home and abroad, and combining them with the actual local situation of the Long Family Compound, the thesis refines the functional layout of the Long Family Compound Visitor Centre.By exploring the relationship between the regional characteristics of the visitor centre and the natural and human environment, the cultural characteristics of the Long Family Compound site are considered to be two major ones:residential and folklore, and the design principles of functionality, integrity, locality and ecology,as well as the design methods of colour echoing, material use, element symbol conversion and context creation, are summarised and applied to the project design. The project is analysed in terms of its context, location and the needs of the people, and the whole space is designed in terms of plan, space and furnishings. The aim is to perpetuate the local culture through the interior space of the visitor centre and to integrate the local history, culture and folklore into the interior design. |
