The total area of China’s hilly area is about 666 million hectares,accounting for 69.4%of the total land area.This area is rich in resources and has great potential for the development of mountain agriculture.However,due to the influence of topography and other factors,the level of Agricultural mechanization in the hilly area is seriously lagging behind.Based on this,the agricultural machinery team of our university has developed a small crawler tractor which is suitable for hilly areas.It has the advantages of small size and strong climbing ability,but it has the problems of too much steering control force and difficult steering under heavy load.Therefore,this paper takes the mountain crawler tractor as the research object,aiming at the problems of large steering operation force and difficult steering under the heavy load condition of the tractor steering mechanism,analyzes and studies the jaw clutch steering mechanism.Without changing the size and structure of the tractor gearbox,through the research on the structure type of the jaw clutch and the optimization of the structural parameters,the paper takes the tractor as the research object to realize the purpose of light steering of small mountain crawler tractor.The research contents and conclusions of this paper are as follows:(1)Based on the analysis of the steering principle of small mountain crawler tractor,the main reasons for the difficulty of turning are as follows: when the tractor turns,the separation friction resistance of the jaw clutch of the steering mechanism is large;according to the performance parameters of small mountain crawler tractor,the single side tooth of small mountain crawler tractor under the conditions of traction load,no traction load and slope driving is calculated.The load of the jaw clutch provides the basis for the structural parameter optimization and experimental research of the jaw clutch.(2)In this paper,the structure type of the jaw clutch is studied,and the characteristics and using conditions of the jaw clutch with different tooth types are described.Through calculation and analysis,the new designed jaw clutch adopts the normal trapezoid tooth.With the optimization toolbox of MATLAB,the structure parameters of the normal trapezoid jaw clutch are optimized with the minimum separating force as the optimization objective function The results show that the optimum value of the tooth inclination angle of the trapezoid is 4°;the contact simulation analysis of the optimized trapezoid tooth clutch is carried out by using ANSYS software,which verifies that the optimized tooth clutch can meet the strength requirements under the maximum load,and after optimization,the stress of the trapezoid tooth clutch under the maximum load is less than that of the original rectangular tooth clutch stress.(3)The loading test-bed of the jaw clutch is built and the loading test of the jaw clutch is carried out.Taking the separation force,separation time and combination time of the jaw clutch as the indexes to evaluate the separation and combination performance,the results show that the separation force of the trapezoid jaw clutch with the optimized rear tooth inclination angle of 4° is 20.7% less than that of the original rectangular jaw clutch;the combination of the jaw clutch The time decreases with the increase of the alveolar space,and the combination time tends to be stable when the corresponding angle of the alveolar space is 25°.
