| Southwest area of Xi’an Ming City lies in the southwest of West Street and South Street defined by the Bell Tower.This area became the city’s political and economic center in the late Qing Dynasty;as time goes by Xi’an city commercial center gradually extended andtransferred to the East.This area still retains the main features of the city construction of pre-industrial society.With the renovation since1949 in the city,this region gradually lose original cultural characteristics.As the renovate projects moving on in recent years,the evolution and development changethe spatial form of this area a lot so that it gradually lose local cultural characteristics as one important part of Ming City.Therefore,this article starts with the interaction of historical city and urban renewal,studying on the characters,changing reasons and the evolution regularity of the urban form in southwest of Ming City.This article is using the method of urban morphology.By studying the topgraphic map and doing the wild research as well as historic research,this article mainly has three steps.Fristly,summarize the development of southwest district of Ming city in history and then describe the current overall plan,devide the district into different four morphological regions depending on the different morphological period in order to study the characteristics of different morphological regions.Then,analyse each morphological region and separate each morphological region into different plan-units by three aspects,town plan(including streets,plot,block-plan of building),building fabric and land utilization,after that summarize the characterstics of each morphological element,streets system,plot,block-plan of a building and land utilization and building fabric.At last,summarize the evolution regularity and the key drivers of each morphological element and overall southwest district of Ming city. |
