Research On The Decoration Design Of The Palace Outer Garment In The Late Qing Dynasty

In this paper,the court clothes in the late Qing Dynasty are taken as the research object,and through collecting historical materials,document literatures and other written materials,combined with field research in the Forbidden City,National Museum,Silk Museum and other local museums,exhibitions,nearly 300 physical image materials are sorted out and collected,and the development and social and historical background of the clothes in the late Qing Dynasty are deeply analyzed,and the specific performance and decorative design of the outer garment in the late Qing Dynasty are explained in detail and comprehensively.The purpose is to systematically study the decorative design of outer garments in the late Qing Dynasty,then summarize its rules and characteristics.This paper is mainly divided into the following parts: The first part,after discriminating between Qing Dynasty’s outer garments and Qing Dynasty’s outer garments,explains the formation and development of Qing Dynasty’s outer garments,its heyday and its decline.This paper analyzes and summarizes the social and historical background of outer garments’ popularity due to the cultural blending of Manchu and Han ethnic groups’ costumes,the cultural exchange of “West Wind Spreading to the East” and the influence of women’s regime,in which the influence of Manchu and Han ethnic groups’ costumes and western culture on outer garment is explained in detail,and the characteristics of outer garment are summarized.In the second part,the decorative design of clothes in the late Qing Dynasty is analyzed in detail,and the decorative design elements of clothes are discussed from five aspects:pattern,edge decoration,color,decorative technology and accessories,and analyzes the pattern decoration characteristics of outer garments from the aspects of pattern representation and cultural implication.This part also analyzes the characteristics of the edge decoration of the outer garments from the edge decoration and sleeves,and analyzes the color application characteristics of clothes from the common color system,other auxiliary color systems and color collocation of traditional orthochromatic system,Then,analyzes the fabric technological characteristics of outer garments from two aspects: embroidery fabric and weaving fabric.Analysis on the application of accessories of outer garments from buckle,lapel and scarf.Finally,based on the above analysis of the decorative design of the outer garments,the decorative style and artistic characteristics of the clothes are summarized.Through the research on the decorative design of outer garments,this paper provides a multi-angle academic research for the subsequent research on outer garments and Qing Dynasty costumes,with a view to providing some theoretical support for the further exploration,dissemination and development of Chinese traditional culture.
