| Transparent ABS resin(MABS)is a special type of ABS resin with high added value,which combines high transparency and high impact resistance.MABS polymerization technology is monopolized by foreign countries,and there are no industrialized products in China.At present,the preparation methods and research directions are mostly lotion grafting bulk SAN blending method,while the bulk polymerization technology of ABS is the future development direction because of its environmental protection and energy saving properties.The purpose of this study is to use continuous bulk polymerization to synthesize transparent ABS resin,break through the technical barriers to improve the MABS formulation and bulk process,and explore the localization of transparent ABS resin in bulk.MABS was prepared by dissolving styrene-butadiene rubber(SBR)in styrene(St),acrylonitrile(AN),methyl methacrylate(MMA)monomers and a small amount of solvent ethylbenzene(EB),using a small-scale low-pressure reactor and multi-stage continuous bulk polymerization at elevated temperatures.The effects of rubber type and dosage on the polymerization process,microstructure composition,and product properties were studied.The relationship between rubber properties and dosage,polymerization process,and structural properties of MABS was discussed.The most suitable rubber type and dosage for bulk polymerization of MABS were determined.A pilot scale experimental study of bulk MABS was conducted using a pilot scale multi reactor series polymerization equipment,and MABS was prepared through a sol polymerization devolatilization granulation process.The effects of polymerization reaction temperature,devolatilization temperature,and stirring rate on the polymerization process and product structure and properties in the polymerization process were investigated.The results showed that polymerization reaction temperature had a significant impact on rubber phase grafting and matrix molecular weight,and affected two-phase compatibility,which in turn affected the performance of MABS;The devolatilization temperature has a significant impact on the rubber phase structure and transparency of MABS;The stirring rate affects the phase inversion process in polymerization.By adjusting the shear force before the phase transition,the size of the rubber phase particle can be controlled and the dispersion in the matrix can be improved.The key control points of polymerization process on polymerization process and product structure performance were summarized,and the optimal process conditions were selected for improving the MABS formulation.The effects of MMA content,chain transfer agent addition,ethylbenzene content,and the use of antioxidants on the morphology,structure,compatibility,molecular weight,and properties(tensile properties,flexural properties,impact strength,hardness,processing fluidity,heat resistance,light transmittance,haze,and yellow index)of the two phases were discussed.Finally,infrared component analysis,GPC testing,DMA testing,and various performance tests were conducted to compare the self-made MABS with the transparent ABS product PA758 of Qimei.The impact strength(13.7 k J/m2)exceeded that of PA758(11.56 k J/m2),The transmittance(86.51%)is lower than that of PA758(90.36%),indicating the correlation between component structure differences and performance,and further optimization directions. |
