Intelligent rice cookers have gradually become irreplaceable appliances in kitchens.With the development of technology,intelligent rice cookers are constantly being updated and receiving increasing attention from consumers and businesses.Because the user groups of rice cookers are quite different,their information architecture and manifestation are also different.At the same time,the products in the market are seriously homogeneous,and the interface design lacks innovation.So in this topic,the author introduces the theory of user mental model,which is a model used to describe the user’s thinking process.It can assist designers in exploring the user’s needs for the rice cooker interface,improve the user experience,and further optimize the intelligent rice cooker interface design.This article first clarifies the basic concepts of this theoretical research,namely the user mental model and product interface design theory,and outlines the theoretical formation and application fields of interface design;Clarify the development timeline of user mental models in recent decades,as well as the elements,concepts,and internal relationships of user mental models;Summarize the role of user mental models in product interface design,as the research basis for the application of user mental models in interface design in the following text.Secondly,the construction methods of user mental models in product interface design were summarized;Innovative strategies for user mental models in interface design(splitting,merging,filling,and transforming);Furthermore,a product interface evaluation index system based on user mental models was proposed for indicator selection and weight setting;Finally,the product interface design process based on user mental model was summarized,providing theoretical guidance for the optimization of intelligent rice cooker interface design based on user mental model.Then,explore the user mental model of the intelligent rice cooker interface,and conduct positioning analysis on the research carrier and user selection;Extracting user mental information through interviews and constructing a user mental model;Based on the clustering of user mental information,analyze the optimization design opportunity points of the rice cooker interface.Finally,using the innovative strategy proposed earlier,the user mental model of the intelligent rice cooker interface is reasonably split,merged,filled,and transformed to form a designer model;Then,based on the early optimization design opportunity points and the innovation strategy of the intelligent rice cooker interface user’s mental model,the innovation path(reasonable and clear functional positioning,functional classification of simplifying complexity,shallow and flat information architecture,timely and effective information feedback,clear and readable visual style)is proposed;Starting from the five elements of user experience,research and complete the system image design of the intelligent rice cooker interface;Finally,the optimized interface was evaluated,and through AB testing and matching evaluation of the user’s mental model with the system image,it was found that the optimized interface can improve the user experience.Based on the theory of product interface,this study optimized the evaluation system of the mental model and proposed innovation strategies and paths;We have completed the interface design of intelligent rice cookers from the theoretical perspective of mental models,promoting the application of mental models in interface design,which has reference significance for the design practice of rice cooker interfaces.
