Styrene butadiene rubber(SBR)is one of the most widely used synthetic rubbers and is the most productive synthetic rubber in the world.Hydrogenated styrene-butadiene rubber(HSBR)is a kind of high-performance elastomer with excellent mechanical properties and heat resistance.More than 70% of SBR on the market is synthesized by low-temperature emulsion polymerization.If HSBR latex can be synthesized directly by hydrogenation,it not only simplifies the process but also greatly reduces the use of organic solvents.Epoxidation is often used for the modification of non-polar unsaturated rubber.It can improve the polarity,oil resistance,and mechanical properties of rubber by adjusting the content of epoxy groups.In this study,we mainly prepared hydrogenated styrene butadiene rubber and its epoxy products.The specific research content includes the following parts:(1)To study the influence of the catalyst system on the hydrogenation of styrene butadiene latex,our main focus is to examine the influence of different process conditions,such as reaction temperature,reaction time,catalyst dosage,and other factors on SBRL hydrogenation.We use NMR,FT-IR and other methods to characterize the product structure and hydrogenation degree.The results show that HSBR with good emulsion stability can be successfully prepared using the catalyst system.(2)A series of performance tests were carried out on HSBR with varying degrees of hydrogenation,including rubber thermal stability,dynamic mechanical properties,aging resistance,tensile properties,and other factors,to investigate the impact of hydrogenation degree and further explore the crystallization properties,especially the strain-induced crystallization properties.The results show that HSBR has better heat resistance and mechanical properties than SBR,and the improvement in mechanical properties can be attributed to the strain-induced crystallization of HSBR.(3)Epoxidation of styrene butadiene rubber(E-SBR)was prepared by formic acid/hydrogen peroxide system,and epoxidation hydrogenation styrene butadiene rubber was prepared by catalyst system.The influence of different process conditions on epoxidation and hydrogenation reaction were explored,and the microstructure and thermodynamic properties of E-HSBR were studied.The results show that hydrogenation of epoxidized styrene butadiene rubber has better oil resistance than HSBR,and its high peeling strength and low water absorption make it suitable for use in peeling waterproof coatings.
