Due to the complexity of chemical production processes and the hazards associated with the production and use of chemicals, the chemical industry poses significant risks. In the chemical production process, tasks such as equipment installation, inspection and maintenance, and process technology changes are closely related to hot work, which is highly hazardous and can easily lead to serious accidents.Analysis of hot work-related accident cases shows that human factors are the main cause of accidents. Therefore, safety training for hot work personnel in the chemical industry is essential.Considering the shortcomings of traditional safety training, such as being boring, limited by space and safety constraints, poor practicality, and limited training effectiveness, this paper takes a chemical enterprise in Jiangsu Province as a reference.Based on the safety requirements for hot work in relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards,a systematic main framework and functional modules are designed, and a virtual simulation training system for hot work in the chemical industry based on virtual reality technology is developed. This paper first studies relevant accident cases using the JSA method and improved LEC method to identify and evaluate the risks and risk levels of common hot work in tank areas in the chemical industry throughout the process, and combines FTA analysis of real accident cases to determine the content mainline, hot work operation process script, and typical accident scenarios of the system.Based on the theoretical foundation,12 system functions are designed, including overall framework design, operation simulation, collaborative operation, and role control, and the required software and hardware configurations for system development are determined.Multiple key technologies required for virtual reality are studied, and Unity3 D and C#,and HTC VIVE Pro devices are used to develop a stable, immersive, and easy-to-maintain virtual simulation training system for hot work in the chemical industry. The system has been tested on a trial basis by a chemical company and a third-party contractor agencies with good results.
