Research On The Impact Of Environmental Accounting Information Disclosure On Corporate Performance

Throughout history,many countries have inevitably taken the importance of the environment in the process of economic development lightly,resulting in environmental pollution problems of varying degrees.Today,with the concept of sustainable development gaining popularity and the construction of an ecological civilization gaining momentum,the paper industry,as one of the most polluting industries,is facing increasing pressure to survive.In order to follow the trend of green development and improve business performance to achieve a win-win situation of environmental protection and business profitability,paper enterprises have to choose to disclose environmental accounting information in the above-mentioned context.Jingxing Paper Company is a well-known paper company in China,and its disclosure of environmental accounting information is representative of the paper industry as a whole.The paper takes Jingxing Paper Company as a case study and analyzes the impact of the quality of its environmental accounting information on its performance.Firstly,the paper designs the scoring criteria for the company’s environmental accounting information disclosure quality,and then uses the criteria to calculate the information disclosure quality index of Jingxing Paper Company,while using the company’s economic value added and earnings per share as the evaluation index of the company’s performance.On this basis,the correlation analysis between environmental accounting information disclosure quality and Jingxing Paper Company’s enterprise performance from 2017 to 2021 is carried out,and the data results show that Jingxing Paper Company’s environmental accounting information disclosure quality shows a small fluctuation in 2017-2021,and its economic value added and earnings per share show a more consistent fluctuation in the past five years,indicating that the financial effect generated by the enterprise’s commitment to environmental responsibility is relatively obvious.To verify the above results,ten companies of similar size to Jingxing Paper Company were selected for empirical analysis,and the final results were consistent with the analysis conducted for Jingxing Paper Company.Therefore,it is concluded that the disclosure of environmental accounting information by Jingxing Paper Company has a positive impact on the company’s bottom line.On this basis,the thesis concludes by summarizing the deficiencies in Jingxing Paper Company’s environmental accounting information disclosure identified during the research process.In this regard,suggestions for improvement are made at both the government and corporate levels,with the aim of further assisting companies to improve the quality of environmental accounting information disclosure and enhance the impact of environmental accounting information disclosure on the company’s bottom line.
