Thanks to the continuous improvement of agricultural technology,modern agriculture relies on a large amount of inputs such as machinery,pesticides,fertilisers and mulch to achieve high output from agricultural systems,which can produce large amounts of greenhouse gas emissions,ecotoxicity and surface pollution.Against this background,promoting green agricultural development and creating a low-carbon agricultural system has become a key concern for China’s agricultural development.Jilin Province is an important early-maturing single-season rice crop area in the northeast of China and a key national commodity grain base.Therefore,measuring and analysing the ecological efficiency and influencing factors of rice farming in Jilin Province,can help balance the relationship between agricultural economic growth and environmental protection,and is of great significance in achieving green development of agriculture.This paper combines the carbon footprint model of rice farming,the ecotoxicity model and the surface source pollution model,and measure the ecological efficiency of rice farming in 45 county administrative areas in Jilin Province from 2012 to 2020 by using the SBM-Undesirable model,on the basis of which the effects of industrial structure,agricultural machinery density,financial support for agriculture,urbanization rate,cultivation On this basis,the impact of industrial structure,agricultural machinery density,financial support for agriculture,urbanization rate,cultivation structure and agricultural economic level on the ecological efficiency of rice farming in Jilin Province is identified and countermeasures are proposed.The findings are as follows:(1)The environmental load of rice farming in the western and central regions of Jilin Province is higher than that in the eastern region,and the overall environment of rice farming ecosystems in the western and central regions is poor.(2)The ecological efficiency of rice farming in Jilin Province from 2012 to2020(except for 2017)has improved but is low overall,and the ecological efficiency of rice farming in both the western and central regions is higher than that in the eastern region.(3)The density of agricultural machinery,the level of financial support for agriculture,the urbanization rate,the level of agricultural economy and geographical factors have a strong influence on the ecological efficiency of rice farming in Jilin Province.(4)To improve the ecological efficiency of rice farming in Jilin Province,the government needs to build a research system for monitoring the ecological environment of rice fields and form a scientific pollution prevention and control mechanism and cultivation model;strengthen the publicity of low-carbon rice farming technology and raise farmers’ awareness of green and low-carbon cultivation;improve the level of financial support for agriculture and take differentiated measures to improve the ecological efficiency of rice farming;optimise the structure of government agricultural subsidies and strengthen green and low-carbon cultivation behaviour subsidies;deepen the reform of rice management bodies and strengthen the demonstration effect of new rice management bodies.
