Textiles are an indispensable necessity of modern civilized society and have made great contributions to the development of human society.With the continuous improvement of national living standards,people’s requirements for textiles are also increasing.Giving textiles multifunctionality,such as flame retardant and water repellent,flame retardant and antibacterial,not only increases the added value of textiles,but also meets people’s requirements for multifunctionality of textiles.Consequently,it is of great significance to develop flame retardant multi-functional textiles to improve their safety and broaden their application range.In this thesis,flame retardant and water repellent compounds were prepared based on biomassβ-cyclodextrin(β-CD)and long-chain hexadecanol respectively.Flame retardant and water repellent cotton(FR-WR-cotton)fabric was prepared by dip-dry-cure technique.The surface morphology,chemical composition,characteristic functional groups,flame retardancy,hydrophobicity,thermal stability,combustion properties and flame retardant mechanisms were evaluated and discussed by scanning electron microscopy(SEM),X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),vertical combustion,water contact angle(WCA),thermogravimetric(TG),cone calorimetry(CC),Raman spectroscopy(Raman)and thermogravimetric-infrared(TG-IR).In the first part,phosphorus and nitrogen-containing flame retardant(β-CPAS)was prepared based onβ-CD and was then introduced into the cotton fabric to obtain flame retardant cotton(FR-cotton).The modified fabric was unable to ignite under vertical flame and still passed the vertical burn test after 10 laundering cycles(LCs).Under nitrogen atmosphere,the char residue of the treated cotton fabric increased from 15.5wt%to 40.3 wt%,and the peak heat release rate(p HRR)and total heat release(THR)decreased by 88.3%and 84.8%respectively,indicating that the modified cotton fabric has good char-forming ability and flame retardancy.In the second part,hexadecanol phosphorylated(HP)was prepared through the reaction of hexadecanol,phosphoric acid and urea,which was finished onto cotton fabric to obtain water repellent cotton(WR-cotton).The water contact angle of the treated cotton fabric was up to 130~o and the hydrophobicity remained unchanged after 10 LCs,demonstrating that the modified cotton fabric has excellent hydrophobic properties.In the third part,the HP andβ-CPAS prepared in the first two parts were prepared with certain concentrations and grafted onto cotton fabrics to obtain flame retardant and water repellent cotton(FR-WR-cotton).The treated cotton fabric had good flame retardant and hydrophobic durability.After10 LCs,it still could not be ignited under vertical flame,and the water contact angle was greater than 120~o.In addition,under nitrogen atmosphere,the char residue of the treated cotton fabric increased from 15.5 wt%to 34.2 wt%,and the p HRR and THR decreased by 88.3%and 84.8%respectively,indicating that the modified cotton fabric has good char-forming ability and flame retardancy. |
