A Study Of The Expression Of Firing Media In Ceramic Art Creation

The medium is the main carrier for artists to create art,and it is also an important way for artists to convey their artistic ideas and artistic emotions.Pottery is an art composed of clay and fire,and fire is the main means of creating pottery.In traditional pottery,fire does not usually exist in material form,and the rise of expressionism in the late 19 th and early 20 th centuries emphasized the awakening of human self-awareness and the promotion of individuality.Today’s society is a diverse and colorful one,where people emphasize their own values while exploring the aesthetic properties of the material materials themselves that fit with their personal consciousness and artistic claims.After the emergence of Expressionism in the early twentieth century,the aesthetic value of the medium itself began to come to the fore.Today,ceramic artists usually consider the mediums of clay,fire,glaze,and tool techniques as one of the most dominant expressive subjects,which are both means and ends.In the medium of pottery creation,in addition to the traditional expression techniques such as blue and white,new color,pastel color,carving,color glaze,etc.,in recent years there has also been a rise in the use of special firing methods for decoration,such as pit firing,music firing,modern wood firing,soda firing,salt firing and other firing methods.As an expressive medium,special firing methods are combined with the practice of pottery creation to form brilliant and uncertain visual colors on pottery works,which meet the aesthetic needs of the present society.This paper illustrates the linguistic characteristics of firing expression in pottery creation,as well as the linguistic characteristics of pit-fired decorative expression.Based on the linguistic characteristics of pit-fired expression,the practice of pottery creation is explained in detail with regard to the creation practice of "Chorus" and "Luxury" respectively,as a way to express that pit-fired expression is both a means of decoration and a purpose of expression,to emphasize its unique aesthetic expression characteristics,to give a new aesthetic meaning to the sculpture type expression,to broaden and enrich the expression language of the pottery medium in terms of expression,and to The performance of the firing medium in the creation of pottery has been newly thought and explored.
