| The reports of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China emphasized that the treatment of all and prevention at source is necessary for the control of air pollution.There is little knowledge about the concentration levels of indoor pollutants and the impact of the indoor pollutants on indoor occupants.Both the prevention and treatment of indoor pollutants are difficult to implement effectively.Different from the traditional analysis of pollution components,this article focuses on the process of the effect of indoor air quality on individual perceived cognition.More specifically,based on the experiments contain a faculty and graduate students as elements,this paper explores the mechanisms of indoor air quality effects on the cognitive performance of graduate students.Previous studies establish quantitative associations between indoor environment and indoor occupant comfort,and widely discuss the possible effects of indoor air pollutant levels on work performance.However,there is a gap about systematic analysis and causal explanation for the function routes of indoor air quality on Chinese graduate students’cognitive performance.In order to explore a complete and reliable mechanism,firstly,combined with relevant theories,this paper identifies the necessary variables of the whole analysis system on the base of real-time environmental monitoring and extensive literature research,such as indoor air quality,indoor air quality perception,postgraduates’cognitive performance,personality traits and so on.At the same time,the possible effect paths between different variables are clarified,and the complete hypothesis model of indoor air quality affecting graduate students’cognitive performance is constructed accordingly.Secondly,measurement scales and questionnaires are developed for the subjective data that are difficult to observe and obtain,and all the research data needed by the research hypothesis are obtained simultaneously through indoor air quality monitoring and questionnaire research.Then,the structural equation model is chose to fit and correct the data,and the research hypotheses are tested and analyzed to propose the influence mechanism under the empirical approach.Finally,a deep search of the study data using the symbolic regression algorithm returns a large number of complex higher-order equations.The potential influence paths are carved out according to those equations and tested for significance based on causal inference theory.At last,the test results are summarized to refine the analysis of the mechanism of indoor air quality for graduate students’cognitive performance.The results show that the modeling variables and research hypotheses are reasonable because the hypothetical model of indoor air quality affecting postgraduates’cognitive performance has been verified.There are three processes in the mechanism of indoor air quality for graduate students’cognitive performance:direct influence mechanism,indirect influence mechanism and moderating effect mechanism.Based on the analysis results of various influence mechanisms,it is considered that indoor relative humidity and PM10 are the core components affecting graduate students’cognitive performance during this experiment.And indoor air quality perception is an important medium that indoor air quality plays an important role in the process of cognitive performance.Meanwhile,the neurotic attribute of personality traits can appropriately adjust the degree of indoor air quality indirectly affecting postgraduates’cognitive performance.Finally,for the three impact mechanisms and four types of core variables,corresponding countermeasures and suggestions are put forward from the government level,university level and individual level,in order to reduce the negative impact of indoor air quality on students’cognitive performance. |
