In view of the lack of analysis from the perspective of modern mechanics in the current traditional oil press,it still has advanced reference significance in modern oil press in terms of pressing technology, structural mechanical characteristics and so on.Therefore,it is very beneficial to discover and excavate the structural mechanical principles and mechanical properties of traditional oil pressing machines and tools. In this paper, from the perspective of modern mechanics, the structural modeling and force analysis of the traditional oil press(lever oil beam press, wedge press)are carried out,and the mechanical characteristics of the traditional oil press are analyzed by the combination of dynamic theoretical knowledge and finite element method.Firstly, this paper analyzes the force increasing effect of lever oil beam press and the force increasing and self-locking of wedge press by using the lever principle and the force increasing and self-locking principle of wedge mechanism. Conclusion it is found that the lever oil beam press can achieve 13 times the effect by changing the length ratio between the power arm and the resistance arm.The smaller the wedge angle of the wedge mechanism in the wedge press, the more self-locking,and produce a force increasing effect of 2.78 times.Secondly, using modern dynamics theory to analyze the dynamics theory of traditional oil pressing machines and tools, the relevant parameters between collision speed and force are obtained, which paves the way for the later simulation. Finally, the finite element analysis software ABAQUS is used to analyze the step-by-step pressing force in the process of lever oil beam pressing, the hammering force of different hammer weights(10kg,15 kg,20kg)on the wooden wedge in the classics of Wang Zhen’s Nong Shu in Yuan Dynasty, and the impact force of the impact rod in the classics of T’ien-kung K’ai-wu in Ming and Qing Dynasties hitting the wooden wedge at different speeds(6m / s,7m / s,8m / s)under different swing amplitudes(30 °,45 °,60 °).Conclusion it is found that the lateral impact of wood wedge is less labor-saving than that of hammer hitting wedge, and can obtain greater instantaneous impact force, which is consistent with the fact that most of the existing press tools are impact rods.Compared with the two pressurization methods of lever oil beam press and wedge press,it can achieve 6 ~ 10 times the pressing force of wedge press. This is also the reason why the lever oil beam pressure beam is still in use.
