| Benzophenone-3(2-hydroxy-4-methoxybenzophenone;BP-3)compounds have been reported to have endocrine disrupting effects, the widespread occurrence of these compounds in the environment has attracted people’s attention. However, there are few studies on BP-3compounds in sewage sludge and indoor dust, especially in China. This paper focuses on the occurrence and exposure of BP-3 compounds in sewage sludge and indoor dust, including the following contents:(1)The concentrations of BP-3 and its four derivatives in sewage sludge samples from different regions of China were detected. The results showed that, among five benzophenones,BP-3 has the highest concentration in all sludge samples(concentration range: 0.581–305 ng/g dw),whereas no difference was found for BP-3 in sludge from different geographical regions of China(p > 0.05).The mass loading of five benzophenones were calculated to understand environmental release, the results showed that the highest mass loading of benzophenones was found in Eastern China(20.9 kg/yr).Calculation of the risk quotients(RQs)of five benzophenones showed that all compounds in sludge-amended soils had low environmental risks(RQs < 0.1)in all geographic regions.(2)BP-3 and its four derivatives were detected in indoor dust and human hair samples. The results showed that BP-3 had the highest concentration contribution in indoor dust and hair(dust: 75.4%;hair: 92.5%).The human exposure of five benzophenones through indoor dust showed that the Southwest China had the highest human exposure among seven geographical regions(male: 0.0355 ng/kg bw/day;female: 0.0406 ng/kg bw/day).In addition, the correlation analysis results showed that the concentration of BP-3 between indoor dust and hair samples was significantly correlated(p < 0.05).In this paper, the occurence and human exposure of BP-3 and its derivatives in sewage sludge and indoor dust across China were investigated. |
