Objective: Establishment of a refining process of the hazelnut oil with a view to refining the oil to meet national standards for vegetable oils for cosmetic use, thereby further expanding its application. The main focus is on elucidating the chemical composition and some of the active effects of the hazelnut refined oil, including moisturising properties,UV absorption and skin sensory skin irritation.Refined hazelnut oil is used as an ingredient in cosmetics to make hazelnut oil creams. Methods: The conformity of the hazelnut pressed oil used in this experiment was judged in accordance with the specifications set out in the industry standards.Process research: Determination of degumming, deacidification, decolorisation and deodorisation conditions for hazelnut pressed oil using a single factor investigation.Chemical studies:Hazelnut refined oil was saponified using HCl-Me OH-silyl etherification and systematically analysed chemically by gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry(GC-MS)to confirm its chemical composition.Activity studies: hyaluronic acid enzyme activity test and weight-based moisturisation tested to verify its moisturising effect, enzyme standard test to determine its UV absorption capacity, human sensory evaluation and skin patch test to determine its skin feel and skin irritation.Product application: A fuzzy sensory evaluation was used to select the optimum amount of hazelnut oil to be added to the cream and the cream was evaluated for quality according to relevant standards and tested for moisturising effect using a skin tester. Results: The indicators of the hazelnut pressed oil used in this experiment, such as colour of yellow 30 and red 4 in sensory properties, odour, transparency, taste, moisture and volatile matter content of 0.033%,acid value of 0.82mg/g and hydrogen peroxide value of0.24g/100 g in physicochemical properties, were in line with industry standards.A single-factor experiment was conducted to determine the conditions for degumming at 75°C with 4% water for 30 mins. The deacidification condition is 70°C with 5% water for 70 min.The decolourisation condition is 80°C with 12% activated white clay for 50 min.The deodorisation condition is 95°C with 150rpm/min for 120 min.The chemical study used GC-MS to determine the chemical composition of the hazelnut refined oil and 28 peaks were measured.Activity studies have determined that refined oil has the effects of moisturizing and absorbing ultraviolet rays.As the same time,it has the advantages of no irritation to the skin and better skin feeling than other vegetable oils. The development of its products has determined the optimum amount of the hazelnut refined oil to be added to the cream at 3m L/100 g to ensure that it has the best moisturising effect while still meeting cosmetic industry standards of all areas. Conclusion: The first systematic refining of the hazelnut pressed oil,the establishment of a better refining process and the analysis of the chemical composition of the hazelnut refined oil.The activity study of the hazelnut refined oil shows that it is a kind of vegetable oil with good skin feeling, safe and non-irritating to skin, moisturizing ability and UV absorption ability. It is added to creams as a cosmetic ingredient and the resulting creams meet cosmetic standards in terms of stability and other indicators. Therefore, the hazelnut refined oil has an advantage in the cosmetics market.
