At present,major domestic video platforms are all planning the production and promotion of online food documentaries.Although there are frequent works in the online food documentary market,most of them focus on the pursuit of commercial value and ignore the emotional value of the works,and the communication effect is very small.Therefore,this study takes the online food documentaries as the research object,introduces the perspective of emotional communication,and analyzes the series of works of "A String of Life" and the series of "Breakfast China" as examples,and mainly discusses and solves the following questions: Emotionally resonate with the audience? What emotion do you convey to the audience? What is the mechanism of emotional dissemination of online food documentaries? What is the impact value and reference significance of online food documentaries?By using the case analysis method,text analysis method and in-depth interview method,the author watched all the works of "A String of Life" and "Breakfast China",sorted out relevant text materials,and conducted in-depth interviews with audiences with high fan stickiness.Finally,combined with semiotics and interactive ritual chain theory research,it is found that the online food documentaries "A String of Life" and "Breakfast China" both convey specific emotions through the use of audio-visual emotional symbols,which resonate with the audience.Secondly,the process of emotional communication basically conforms to Collins’ theory of interactive ritual chain: the virtual presence of the audience has a barrier to exclude outsiders from the documentary.Food and life are the focus of the audience’s common attention,and they also generate common emotions.In this process,emotions are continuously accumulated and condensed to form emotional energy,and the sacred symbols that only "insiders" can understand are born.The participating audiences finally gain a sense of identity and belonging.In addition,the emotional communication of online food documentaries has certain social,economic and cultural value."A String of Life" and "Breakfast China" stand out from many works and are a successful attempt to spread emotion.Therefore,creators of online food documentaries need to pay attention to the issues that audiences care about,dig deeper into their emotional needs,broaden the channels for expressing their emotions and attitudes,and establish a more stable chain of interaction with audiences.In this way,online food documentaries can truly "know it with love" and go further and further on the road in the future.
