| Pilots’ flight skills directly affect safety performance, but a high level of flight skills does not completely mean a high level of safety performance.Pilots with good flight skills and even experienced flying backgrounds often cause unsafe incidents. In the human causes of the unsafe incidents, the pilots’ invalid flying style accounts for the main part. And some studies have shown that flight skills also indirectly affect safety performance by affecting self-assessment.Therefore,it is beneficial for airlines to improve the safety performance of pilots to study the influence of pilots’ flight skills, flying style and self-assessment on safety performance.Based on literature analysis, the initial 9 components of flight skills were established.Through exploratory factor analysis,2 dimensions were extracted, including technical flight skills and non-technical flight skills.Based on literature analysis, the initial 9 components of flying style were established.Through exploratory factor analysis,3 dimensions were extracted, including flight discipline, professional attitude and self-improvement.Based on airlines’ management practices, the 5 dimensions of safety performance were established in the overlimit events, including speed events, attitude events, structure events, load events, and height events.Based on theoretical analysis, the model of flight skills, flying style,self-assessment and safety performance was established.Using the data obtained from questionnaire and airline survey, the model was tested by AMOS and PROCESS.The results show that: 1)Pilots’ technical and non-technical flight skills have a significant positive impact on various dimensions of safety performance;2)Pilots’ self-assessment has a partly positive mediating effect on the relationship between technical,non-technical flight skills and various dimensions of safety performance;3)Pilots’ flying style has a moderating effect on the relationship between technical,non-technical flight skills and safety performance;4)Pilots’ flying style has a moderating effect on the relationship between technical,non-technical flight skills and self-assessment;5)Pilots’ flying style does not have a moderating effect on the relationship between self-assessment and safety performance. |
