The chlorinated hydrocarbons impact on the environment has received extensive attention.Chlorinated hydrocarbons are suspicious "carcinogenic, mutagenic and teratogenic"organic pollutants. In the process of production, transportation and usage, chlorinated hydrocarbons may be let into soil and groundwater by volatile way, container leakage or waste solvent emissions, which results in the harm to human health and the environment. This thesis summarized the physical and chemical properties of chlorinated hydrocarbons. In the meantime,we analyzed the situation of soil and groundwater polluted by the chlorinated hydrocarbons, presented some typical production processes of chlorinated hydrocarbons, and analyzed the discharge of chlorinated hydrocarbons in solvents cleaning industries in the United States. We analyzed the sites under the pollution-control projects funded by the Superfund.Afterwards the production as well as the imports and exports of typical chlorinated hydrocarbons in China were investigated in detail.By calculating the apparent consumption of chlorinated hydrocarbons in China, the typical chlorinated hydrocarbons consumptions were presented.Ultimately we established a risk assessment system for industries related to chlorinated hydrocarbons production and utilization, which provided references for establishing and improving the environmental industrial risk assessment work in China. This study describes the methods for the industrial risk assessment Combined with environmental risks Sort of American chlorinated solvents industry, although there are certain references to our country,it is still a big challenge to achieve the risk assessment for industries related to the chlorinated hydrocarbons production and utilization due to the lack of sufficient-data,therefore we need further in-depth analysis and research on risk assessment.
