The urbanization process and technological progress in China have promoted the rapid development of pipe jacking construction technology,but avoiding the impact of construction on the surrounding soil is extremely challenging.Especially in deep soft soil layers with poor soil structure,the impact of pipe jacking construction is more pronounced.Therefore,based on the Jiangmen Rainwater and Wastewater Diversion Project,we use ABAQUS finite element software for numerical simulation research to provide guidance and reference for the construction of this project and other similar projects.We studied the impact of different construction factors on soil deformation by controlling variables,and compared the simulation results with measured data.The following main results were obtained:(1)Theoretical analysis shows that the causes of soil deformation mainly include two aspects: stress disturbance and formation loss.During the process of pipe jacking construction,the cutting of the cutterhead,the pushing of the machine head,and the friction between the pipe and soil can cause varying degrees of disturbance to the soil,leading to changes in the stress state of the soil and causing displacement of the soil;In addition,formation loss is the main cause of soil deformation.(2)Before carrying out the pipe jacking construction,we analyzed the engineering geological and hydrogeological characteristics of the construction site in conjunction with the geological survey report.Based on these data,we have developed a monitoring plan and monitored land subsidence.Through monitoring,we have obtained the pattern of land subsidence.(3)According to the simulation results of pipe jacking,as the jacking depth increases,the settlement of the soil directly above the pipeline gradually increases,while the settlement decreases in areas far away from the pipeline.In addition,an increase in pushing surface pressure,pipe diameter,and a decrease in elastic modulus can also lead to an increase in soil settlement,with changes in pipe diameter having the most significant impact on settlement.In addition,the burial depth of the top pipe is directly proportional to the settlement value,so it is necessary to control the burial depth reasonably to avoid increased settlement.Therefore,in practical engineering,these factors should be fully considered and effective measures should be taken to reduce the impact on the surrounding soil,ensuring the safety and reliability of construction.(4)By comparing the simulation results with the measured data,it was found that the simulation results are consistent with the actual soil deformation law,which provides a reference basis for similar engineering construction.A series of specific measures have been proposed to address the causes of soil deformation,including reasonable selection of pipe jacking equipment,control of front mud water pressure and mud discharge,control of demolition of retaining structures,control of jacking axis,synchronous grouting control,displacement grouting control,and reinforcement of soil.These measures can provide guidance and support for engineering construction.
