At present, how to break through the double trap of environmental degradation and livelihood poverty in ecologically fragile areas in China under the background of comprehensive implementation of rural revitalization and elimination of absolute poverty, and build a sustainable livelihood system in ecologically fragile areas is a topic worthy of discussion. However,so far, there is still a great space to explore the geographical connotation sublimation, occurrence mechanism and limiting factors of long-term livelihood deprivation in ecologically fragile areas. In view of this, this study uses grounded theory to extract key information from 140 in-depth interview data in Gansu,Henan,Fujian and Guizhou provinces to construct a theoretical analysis framework of livelihood resilience.Based on the data of ecological environment and regional economy at the county scale,we explored the temporal and spatial evolution characteristics of livelihood resilience in 1095 county units in ecologically fragile regions of China from2000 to 2017,and then analyzed the mechanism of livelihood resilience in ecologically fragile regions from different scales and dimensions. The results show that:(1)Using the grounded theory, the connotation of the fusion of toughness and ecologically fragile area environment background characteristics, screening for ecological environment background and the disasters, regional economy and policy guidance, the cultural cognition and the environment, learning, innovation and safeguard four theme units, corresponding to the formation of ecological vulnerability dimension,self-sustaining dimension,self-organizing dimension,self-recovering dimension to the livelihoods of toughness analysis framework.(2)The temporal and spatial transition of livelihood resilience in ecologically fragile regions of China is relatively gentle, and the scarce areas are mainly distributed in mountainous areas of southwest China and inland areas of northwest China, where natural ecological resources and regional economic development are lacking.(3)The mechanism for ecological fragile areas livelihood toughness can be from a macro scale regulation function and regional resources and environment background, the external environment of mesoscale adsorption and diffusion effect, micro scale small areas, family and individual factors of the scale conversion for internal driving effect on Angle of view launches the analysis, and form corresponding to the livelihood of policy Suggestions.(4)Ecological vulnerability measurement is the premise of livelihood resilience analysis in ecologically fragile regions of China.Different policies should be adopted to guide the top-level design of the country and region at the macro scale, towns and counties at the medium scale that systematically allocate and coordinate resources in practice, and families and individuals at the micro scale that are deeply affected by the resilience of livelihoods and have urgent requirements for livelihood improvement. This study will provide scientific basis and policy reference for the policy tradeoff of production-living-ecological space in ecologically fragile areas of China under the background of territorial spatial planning, and for the realization of a virtuous cycle between regional livelihood improvement and ecological environment protection.
