Study On The Influence Of Non-Interest Income On The Performance Of Listed City Commercial Banks

After recent years’ development,non-interest income business has become an indispensable part of the business structure of urban commercial banks.In the context of interest rate liberalization,with the increasingly fierce competition in the banking industry,the importance of non-interest income business in the development of urban commercial banks is more prominent.At present,there are relatively few studies on the non-interest income business of urban commercial banks in academic research in China,and there are also great disputes about the impact of non-interest income of urban commercial banks on business performance.Based on this,this paper discusses the relationship between non-interest income and business performance of urban commercial banks from two aspects of theoretical analysis and empirical research.Firstly,this paper reviews the relevant research at home and abroad,and understands the research status of the impact of non-interest income on the business performance of commercial banks and urban commercial banks at home and abroad,so as to provide reference for this study.On the basis of summarizing the development history and characteristics of urban commercial banks in China,this paper summarizes the current situation of non-interest income of urban commercial banks in China,focuses on the analysis of the total non-interest income and the structure of non-interest income of urban commercial banks,and points out the problems existing in the development of non-interest income business of urban commercial banks in China,including the relatively single product type The professional competence of business personnel is insufficient and the regional development is uneven,which provides a basis for the subsequent interpretation of the empirical research results.On the basis of diversified operation theory,synergy theory and financial innovation theory,this paper discusses the impact of non-interest income of urban commercial banks on business performance from both positive and negative dimensions.Then select the return on net assets of urban commercial banks as the explanatory variable,select the proportion of non-interest income business and its details as the explanatory variable,and select the asset scale of urban commercial banks as the control variable to build a mathematical measurement model.Select the panel data of 24 urban commercial banks in China from 2008 to 2020 as the sample data,carry out empirical research,and quantitatively analyze the impact of non-interest income of urban commercial banks on business performance.The results show that the non-interest income of urban commercial banks has a significant positive impact on business performance,indicating that in recent years,with the continuous development of the non-interest income business of urban commercial banks in China,a wealth of experience has been accumulated,and the non-interest income business has become a new profit growth point of urban commercial banks.There are significant differences in the impact of non-interest income items on business performance of urban commercial banks.The net income of handling charges and commissions and investment profit and loss have a significant positive impact on business performance,the profit and loss of changes in fair value have a significant negative impact on business performance,and exchange gains and losses and other business income have no significant impact on business performance.Finally,this paper puts forward some policy suggestions for the development of non-interest income business of urban commercial banks in China,one is to optimize the non-interest income structure of urban commercial banks,the other is to strengthen the training of non-interest income business talents.
