During the operation of the road, due to the influence of the natural environment and vehicle load, different types and degrees of diseases may appear on the road surface and interior, which will further have a great impact on the driving safety. The road maintenance personnel need to detect, maintain and repair the operating road.Traditional pavement detection methods, such as three meter ruler method,Beckman beam deflectometer and manual sand paving, have some disadvantages, such as slow detection speed, low efficiency and so on;The detection methods inside the road generally adopt core drilling method and trenching method, which is not only less representative, but also has structural damage to the road.Among various detection technology means,GPR technology has significant advantages.GPR technology can detect the highway pavement without damage and ensure the integrity of the highway detection section. At the same time, radar detection can analyze the deeper part below the ground in detail, provide relevant parameters at all levels of the road pavement, and provide a strong guarantee for maintenance. In this paper,three-dimensional ground penetrating radar is used as the main detection instrument to study the importance and necessity of three-dimensional ground penetrating radar in road detection.Firstly,by introducing the imaging principle and working principle of radar, and comparing with the traditional two-dimensional radar, the advantages of three-dimensional radar are discussed;Secondly, the image of 3D GPR road void detection is interpreted, and the accuracy of road void detection based on 3D GPR and falling weight deflectometer is compared and analyzed. Moreover, the road surface diseases are detected by using the multi-functional detection vehicle, and the internal damage is evaluated by using the three-dimensional ground penetrating radar, and the correlation between the two data is analyzed; Finally, based on the project example, the three-dimensional ground penetrating radar is introduced to detect and evaluate the internal damage of the physical project, and reasonable disposal suggestions are given to optimize the maintenance effect.Research shows:the accuracy of three-dimensional ground penetrating radar in detecting road internal damage is high. There is no good correlation between road internal damage and road surface diseases. It is too unilateral to determine the maintenance scheme solely by relying on the technical indicators of road conditions. The research results can be used for reference by similar projects.
