The COVID-19 has seriously affected people’s life.During the period of closed management of the epidemic,it is inconvenient for patients to go out to see a doctor.Patients need a more convenient way to keep in touch with their doctors. The physician-driven online health platform breaks the geographical restrictions between doctors and patients.Patients can complete online medical treatment at home without leaving room.In the past, patients have not generally accepted online medical treatment due to issues such as unclear effects and trust.Under the influence of COVID-19,will patients like to choose online medical treatment? On the other hand, should doctors use their limited personal time to join online consultations, and what are the key factors influencing their decision-making? For the platform, how to improve the quality of doctors’ services and ensure the safety of patients’ medical treatment through review and supervision is also a question. This paper analyzes the game behavior between multiple agents in online health platforms under the influence of COVID-19.We collect data from a leading Chinese online health platform. The article mainly contains three parts: The first is to analyze the strategies of doctors and patients during the epidemic.By describing the perceived value of patients in online and offline medical treatment scenarios,we define the medical treatment strategies of both doctors and patients under the epidemic background.Analyze the game equilibrium in combination with the different evolution stages of the epidemic. We find that in the early stage of the epidemic, the strategy of doctors and patients was not to participate neither.Platforms should strengthen financial subsidies for doctors to attract them.During the spread of the epidemic, doctors choose to participate and patients choose not to participate. At this time, the platform should fully increase its exposure and attract more users to the platform.During the outbreak period, doctors choose not to participate but patients choose to participate, and the platform should focus on patient operations at this stage. When the epidemic is receding, the game strategy of doctors and patients is both participate.Online health platforms will become a common choice for doctors and patients. The second part is to analyze the role of platform review strategies and the authenticity of patient evaluations when online medical care has become a normal choice for doctors and patients. We find that the behavior of doctors is directly affected by the time cost paid and the benefits obtained on the platform. The platform increases the punishment for the doctor’s negative response or reduces the time cost of the doctor’s consultation through intelligent means, which can improve the quality and enthusiasm of the doctor’s service. The patient’s evaluation of the doctor will directly affect the platform’s review strategy.Maintaining the authenticity of the patient’s evaluation is conducive to reducing the cost of the platform’s review and decision-making;the supervision and review of the doctor’s reply through the platform is conducive to maintaining the authenticity of the patient’s comment. The third part is to combine three natural experiments to quantify the impact of the COVID-19 on user behavior, using the OLS,instrumental variable regression and difference-indifference model to study the interaction between doctors and patients. We find that when there is no epidemic, the increase of doctor’s participation in the platform can significantly increase the number of patients’ consultation. But the increase of patient’s consultation will not significantly affect the enthusiasm of doctors to reply. When an epidemic occurs, the participation of doctors and patients will have a significant positive impact on each other. Finally,we provide some management advice for online health platforms.Platforms should seize the opportunity during the epidemic and attract doctors by providing financial subsidies in the early stages of the epidemic.During the outbreak of the epidemic, the focus of the platform’s operations should be shifted to patients. The platform should enhance the trust of the platform in the hearts of users through various means such as its product features and advertising. When the epidemic is over, the platform should pay attention to patients’ evaluation of doctors in order to monitor the service quality of doctors on the platform. When the patient has many negative comments on the doctor, the platform should review the doctor’s answer to avoid misdiagnosis and medical accidents. When patients have many positive comments on doctors, the platform can reduce the frequency of review. The platform can increase the income of doctors,or reduce the cost of doctors, which is conducive to increasing the enthusiasm of doctors within the platform.
