Abstract/Summary:
In the real traffic networks, travelers’ travel behavior will be affected by many attributes, such as travel time and travel cost.At the same time, the real traffic network also shows stochasticity, which may come from the stochastic failure of road capacity or the uncertainty of travel demand.Empirical research also shows that travelers’ behavioral characteristics, and pay attention to the impact of acceptable travel time and travel cost on their route choice. In this context, this paper adopts target-oriented analysis method to characterize the behavioral characteristics of travelers, and at the same time, considering the existence of stochasticity on the supply side of the traffic network, discusses travelers’ route choice behavior under the influence of travel time and travel cost. The specific contents are as follows:Firstly,in the traffic network with congestion charging, travelers will give corresponding goals to the two attributes of travel time and travel cost in the process of route selection according to their previous travel experience and income level.Based on this feature, this paper proposes a goal-oriented dual attribute path utility model. In this model, taking into account the stochasticity of the supply side of the traffic network, travel time is stochastic and travel cost is deterministic.A target for a given travel time(or travel cost)is acceptable to the traveler with travel time(or travel cost)not exceeding that target. In this situation, the target is said to be achieved. The achievement of targets can bring utility to travelers. When two targets are achieved together, travelers will get additional utility, namely, the interaction between targets. Therefore, when such interaction is considered, travelers are more inclined to achieve both target in the route choice process.Secondly, based on the target-oriented bi-attribute route utility model, this paper further proposes the multi-class target-oriented bi-attribute user equilibrium. That is,no traveler can increase his route utility by unilaterally changing the route, and this user equilibrium expands the category of Wardrop user equilibrium. In user equilibrium analysis, the target of travel time is determined endogenously by traveler’s expected target achievement probability, while the target of travel cost is given exogenously and can be determined by travelers’ income.Different classes of travelers have different travel cost target, and the time-cost utility ratio is assumed to be a linear function of this target. In this paper, the user equilibrium problem is expressed as a variational inequality problem, and the existence and uniqueness of the solution of the problem are analyzed. Finally, the method of successive average is used to solve the variational inequality problem on the Braess traffic network and Nguyen-Dupuis traffic network.Based on the equilibrium results, the effect of targets on the equilibrium results is analyzed in combination with the priority of traveler’ target achievement and the interaction between targets. The conclusions of this paper can provide new insights for travelers’ path choice behavior, and can provide some enlightenment for the design and implementation of congestion charging and other policies.
