High-energy laser has the advantages of fast action speed, long distance and energy concentration, which has attracted the attention of various countries in the fields of processing and medical treatment. The detection method of laser action effect has always been an important evaluation index for the role of laser in these fields.Various test methods emerge in endlessly, which enriches the research on the effect of laser irradiation. However, due to the interference of excitation light and plasma and other factors,it is difficult to detect the real-time evolution of laser irradiation material process. In this paper, the online detection and identification method of polarization spectrum video imaging is adopted, and the detection principle and mathematical model of polarization bidirectional reflectance distribution function are combined to study the damage evolution process of composite epoxy resin under laser irradiation by polarization spectrum imaging and the evolution process of laser-induced plasma by passive detection.According to the Stokes vector analysis method, the evolution law of induced plasma and surface damage of composite epoxy resin caused by the increase of laser pulse number and pulse energy was analyzed. The image fusion processing technology was used to extract the polarization characteristic image.Under the typical Stokes polarization parameters, the damage morphology, the temporal evolution, spectral types, characteristics and sizes of the induced plasma and its jet plume were characterized.Combined with theoretical research, the relationship between polarization information and damage information was established, and then the damage mechanism of composite epoxy resin was analyzed. This paper provides a new idea for laser induced plasma detection from the perspective of polarization spectrum video imaging detection and analysis.
