Behaviors Of Artificial Swarm Intelligence:On The Perspective Of Gilbert's Plural Subject Theory

Artificial swarm intelligence is a type of intelligence that transcends individual dimensions through simple interactions between artificial agents.As a new direction of artificial intelligence research,artificial swarm intelligence has gradually become the focus of attention in many fields such as the scientific community and the humanities and social sciences.With the continuous development of artificial swarm intelligence-related practices,the “singularity problem” in this field has attracted great attention from researchers,that is,can multiple artificial agents form an artificial swarm intelligence that surpasses human swarms? With the deepening of research,researchers found that groups are not a simple accumulation of individuals.This means that if artificial swarm intelligence is only the series structure of individual artificial intelligence,its transcendence based on swarm intelligence as a whole will be difficult to achieve.Therefore,it is necessary to return to the question of the composition of human groups when thinking about the singularity of artificial swarm intelligence,and further ask: Does the current artificial swarm intelligence have the basic elements of human group composition?In contemporary philosophical research on the composition of human groups,the two approaches of individualism and holism provide us with a way of thinking about the formation of human groups.However,cumulative explanations from an individualistic perspective face the challenge of dissolving research meaning.In contrast,holistic explanations better describe the organicity and transcendence of a human group as a whole.Philosopher Gilbert,one of the representatives of the holistic approach,believes that human groups are plural subjects.Starting from the concepts of joint commitment and joint action,she combs and analyzes several factors that constitute human groups in detail,and provides different ideas for us to understand what a group is.Therefore,this paper will take Gilbert's theory of plural subject as a research perspective,and further analyze the group behavior of the current artificial swarm intelligence in practice,so as to judge whether it has the elements of human group.Based on the above thinking,this paper will demonstrate from three levels.Firstly,based on Gilbert's plural subject theory,this paper summarizes the plural subject standard on the basis of the two concepts of joint commitment and joint action.Taking this as the starting point,this paper analyzes the current multi-faceted performance of artificial swarm intelligence in behavior,and points out that it is difficult to meet the plural subject standard in the strict sense.Secondly,this paper will clarify the group characteristics of the current artificial swarm intelligence in behaviors,and analyze its internal relationship with plural subject in the three behaviors of perception,communication and cooperation.Finally,this paper will analyze and summarize two aspects of research based on the perspective of plural subject: on the one hand,starting from the similarities and differences in the group constituent elements of plural subject and artificial swarm intelligence,the more general group constituent elements are extracted from it: behavioral subjects,action environment and information interaction;On the other hand,with the plural subject standard as the core,this paper will look forward to the future development direction of artificial swarm intelligence.
