Analysis Of The Reasons For Fans "breaking Away From Their Idols" On Weibo

With the rapid development of Internet technology,entertainment social media represented by Weibo has become the main position for fans to chase stars.Different from the star-chasing model in the traditional media era,the relationship between fans and idols in the online media era is closer and more equal.When "collapsed idol" and "dropping fans" frequently occupied the top positions in Weibo's hot search list,"fans break away from their idols" has become a proposition worthy of further study in the field of fan culture.As an academic fan,the author conducted a 6-month online ethnographic research on Weibo,and conducted in-depth interviews with 20 fans who had broken away from their idols.Through investigation and research,this paper summarizes the specific manifestations of "dropping fans" on Weibo,and analyzes the deep reasons for fans "break away from their idols" from multiple dimensions.This paper argues that from the era of traditional media to the era of online media,the performance of "dropping fans" has become more and more significant.On Weibo,fans removal specifically involves emotional expression,behavioral expression and identity transformation.Based on the results of the in-depth interviews,this paper mainly explores the deep reasons from three dimensions: the collapse of idols,the enhancement of fans' awareness of the subject,and the guidance of Weibo opinion leaders.First of all,when the idol's media image collapses,the fans' emotional projection to the idol fails,and the mimetic close relationship between fans and idols disintegrates."Fans removal" is the performance of fans and idols taking the initiative to demarcate.Secondly,the booming idol industry and fan economy have enhanced fans' subject consciousness,and "Fans removal" is the product of fans' power show.At the same time,emotional burnout and growth changes are important subjective reasons for fans.Finally,in large-scale fan removal events,key opinion leaders on Weibo represented by core fans and mainstream media actively guide and control fans behavior."fans break away from their idols" is also the return of fans to mainstream culture.
