Study On Understanding Of Question From The Perspective Of Pragmatics

Researching the questions in natural language-analyzing,understanding,and answering questions is a direction with great potential for development.In the philosophy of language,the study of question understanding is mainly from the two perspectives of syntax and semantics,and there are few studies on the pragmatic perspective of questions in natural language.This paper studies the questions of natural language from the perspective of pragmatics,and tries to make progress on the problem of "natural language question understanding".From the perspective of pragmatics,the study of questions in natural language can be divided into three approaches: context theory,information theory,and optimality theory.To study the question with the approach of context theory,first of all,the question is divided into categories,and it is clear that only exploratory issues need to be understood by the approach of context.The understanding of the question depends on the context of the question.The problem is to solve the question by mapping the function of the possible world mapping that is sufficient in the context,combined with the proposition set theory of the possible world.Question-answer dialogue is the information activity of the cognitive subject.From the approach of information theory to study the question,which is caused by the lack of information of the question and answer participants.Each question and answer participant has his own individual information status,and the information status of the questioner is facing insufficient,so there is a need for questioning,the purpose of the question and answer is to ask to meet the lack of information of the questioner.To be a question-answer dialogue requires that the question-answer participants have common information to form the basis of the question and answer.In the existing research,scholars regard the common foundation of question and answer participants as the intersection of individual information states.This article creatively regards the common information foundation as a dynamic update state.The essence of question-answer dialogue is information exchange.Through the exchange,subjects lacking information get the information they need from other participants.In the process of exchange,question,and answer participants need to follow the rules of honesty and trust,and also have information integrity requirements for answers.Optimality theory is a technical approach of computational modeling introduced from connectionism,and its research in the philosophy of language has a history of about30 years.Questions and answers are two-way interactive linguistic behaviors.Researching questions with optimality requires a more refined version,that is,bi-directional optimality.The particularity of question and answer also makes bi-directional optimality have more targeted constraints.The main research on the theory of philosophy of science and the coordination theory of problems still has applicable value in the research of natural language questions.The solution to the question needs to achieve context coordination and information coordination,and finally,the final answer can be obtained through optimal coordination.Therefore,this article tends to think that the understanding of the question from the perspective of pragmatics can be carried out from the perspective of the objective context and the perspective of the information subject in charge,and then the final result can be obtained through the technical method of optimality.
