Wireless sensor networks(WSNs)has been widely applied in many areas such as environmental monitoring,medical health,and intelligent transportation,due to its relatively low cost,self-organization and high flexibility.Pointer meters are still widely used in power,chemical and other industries due to its inherent advantages,such as simple structure,strong resistance to electromagnetic interference and the ability to intuitively reflect the changing trends etc.Currently,pointer meter indicated value reading technologies are relatively mature,but most of them are based on wired systems or inspection robots which need additional cable and large installation costs.However,pointer meter reading method based on WSNs is a relatively unexplored field to date.This paper combines WSNs and pointer meter indicated value reading technology,and proposes a pointer meter reading method based on WSNs.The pointer pressure gauge is taken as the research object to design a pointer meter indicated value reading system based on WSNs.Each end node captures the image of the pointer meter panel,and further internally process and analyze on the end node to obtain meter readings.Only the reading values of pointer meters are transmitted through WSNs,which effectively reduces the amount of data transmission and eases the communication pressure of WSNs.The specific work is as follows:(1)The existing processes and algorithms of the pointer meter reading method were improved and optimized,and the simulation test was performed with the help of MATLAB.(2)On the basis of the NXP JN5168 development board,a hardware platfo rm for the pointer meter indicated value reading system based on WSNs was built,including WSNs End nodes and WSNs Coordinator nodes.(3)Related software programs for the pointer meter indicated value reading system based on WSNs were developed.Software programs include: related module drivers on WSNs End nodes,pointer meter indicated value reading program and WSNs communication program;WSNs and UART communication programs on WSNs Coordinator nodes;pointer meter monitoring platform software program running on the host computer.(4)Under laboratory conditions,the pointer meter indicated value reading system based on WSNs was experimentally verified.Experimental results have shown that the system can recognize the meter indicated value accurately,and the fiducial error of the recognized result is about 0.3%;This system also has a good applicability and adaptability to different meters and environments;the payload transmission data between the End node and the Coordinator node is reduced from150 KB to 4 bytes,effectively alleviating network communication pressure. |
