As a kind of generalized metamaterial,frequency selective surface(FSS)has been widely applied to the design and research of Fabry-Perot(FP)resonator antennas.Active FSS is to add active components to FSS to makes it reconfigurable,thus makes it more applicable in the design of Fabry-Perot antennas.This thesis focuses on the design of FSS loaded Fabry-Perot resonator antenna and its multi-functional design using AFSS.The main work and innovations of this thesis are as follows:1)Analysis and design of related structuresBased on the analysis of Fabry-Perot resonater,FSS and microstrip antennas,commercial softwares were used to simulate and analyze typical structures and general design rules were summarized.The simulation results were also compared with analytic methods and comparisons were made for further designs.2)Design of Fabry-Perot resonater antennasTwo types of Fabry-Perot resonator antenna were designed to achieve high gain property of antennas,of which one could reduce the radar cross section(RCS)at the same time.Design procedure,simulation,optimization,fabrication and measurement were all discussed in details and the results proved the correctness of the designs.3)Design of multi-function Fabry-Perot resonator antennaTwo multi-functional Fabry-Perot resonator antennas are designed.One was loaded with PIN diodes and resistors.By controlling the ON/OFF state of the PIN diodes,the RCS of the antenna was reduced.The other one is loaded with just PIN diodes to improve the antenna gain at dual frequencies.
