Because of their extraordinary brightness,efficiency and color quality,lightemitting diodes(LEDs)have been widely used in many fields such as general lighting,display panels,backlight panels,and beyond lighting.With the development of LED technology and the improvement of efficiency,the research and development of MicroLED technology has become the focus of current research.The application prospect of MicroLED in the field of display has more and more potential.By 2025,the market size of MicroLED will reach 10 billion US dollars.However,as a new type of technology,MicroLED is applied in the display field.There are still many scientific and technical problems that need to be solved,and theoretical and technical research are still needed to support the development of MicroLED.High-performance MicroLED manufacturing technology is different from ordinary LED manufacturing technology.MicroLED technology is to miniaturize and integrate light-emitting diodes into an active matrix array.This article introduces the research status of MicroLED at home and abroad,designs the MicroLED layout,and prepares the MicroLED array and samples using the high-voltage LED process line.The size effect of MicroLED is studied,using FPGA development board to realize the display drive of MicroLED array.This article was completed with the support of national key R & D plan projects and topics(2017YFB0403100,2017YFB0403102).The main research contents are as follows: 1.Designed and prepared single MicroLEDs of different sizes,and tested and analyzed the electrical,optical,and thermal characteristics,studied the current density,forward voltage drop,and current that MicroLED can withstand as the size decreases The changing law of photoelectric thermal parameters such as temperature coefficient k.2.A new type of transparent electrode MicroLED is proposed,and layout design and preparation are carried out.The photoelectric characteristics were tested and analyzed and compared with ordinary LEDs.The results show that the lightemitting efficiency of the new transparent electrode MicroLED has been significantly improved.3.A new type of N-type and P-type electrode coplanar MicroLED array is designed to solve the technical and reliability problems caused by ordinary nitride flip-chip LEDs because the N electrode and P electrode are not in the same plane.4.A MicroLED array drive unit based on Verilog language is designed,and the design under test is compiled and simulated using EDA software to verify the correctness of the function.Finally,it is integrated on the FPGA development board to drive the MicroLED array for dynamic display.
