The phase modulator and optical switch based on graphene-coated fiber are proposed and studied.The dimension of these devices can be as small as several nanometers in length.The applied voltage and the voltage adjustment range are of the order of a tenth of volt.The transmission losses are of the level of a few tenths of dB.The optical switch possesses a complete switch-off state and is adaptable to the variation of phase difference and light intensity.The performance of these devices can be effectively tuned by the parameters,such as the graphene-coated lengths and the applied voltages.These devices may have important applications in fiber-based systems or any other nanoscale optoelectronic system.F-P sensors have attracted wide attention due to their simple structure,no coupler,small size,and easy packaging.An F-P cavity refractive index sensor is formed by fusing two sections of fibers with different refractive indices and removing the cladding of the sensing fiber in the liquid to be measured.The fiber optic device can be as small as several nanometers in length which is much smaller than other F-P interferometers.It has very low accuracy requirements for sensing fiber length and easy to manufacture.
