Tactile sensing is another important sensing technology besides visual sensing. In the past 50 years, researchers have tried various techniques to develop small, reliable, and sensitive tactile sensors. Most tactile sensors have some disadvantages such as complex wiring, zero temperature drift, and easy to electromagnetic interference because they are driven by current or voltage. Therefore,in some complex environments, such as extreme temperatures and electromagnetic radiation, these electrical tactile sensors cannot work well.As a typical fiber sensor,Fiber Bragg grating(FBG)sensor avoids effectively these problems. Therefore, based on the principle of FBG sensing, this paper conducts research on tactile sensors and interrogation systems. The main work includes:1.The research progress of tactile sensors is summarized.FBG sensing theory and finite element simulation theory are deduced.FBG packaging scheme and finite element simulation scheme are analyzed.2.The elastic structure is designed and fabricated and its strain distribution is simulated.By using the elastic structure,an FBG-based tactile sensing experiment platform is established. The performance of the sensor is experimentally studied.Based on the modified sensor structure and materials, the performance of the sensor is improved. The experimental results demonstrate that the sensor has good sensitivity, weak coupling, and creep resistance.3.In order to solve the problem of sensor data processing, based on Labview,a set of fiber grating sensor interrogation software with friendly human-machine interface is developed.Functions of the software include real-time data collection, database storage, historical data query and data visualization.
