Due to the continuous development of wireless communication technology, the demand for spectrum resources has also increased rapidly. In order to solve this problem, many kinds of modulation technologies emerged one after another, but these modulation technologies are not separated from the three dimensions of amplitude, phase and frequency. To solve the problem of spectrum resource management primarily, some scholars developed polarization modulation techniques.Polarization modulation uses the polarization characteristics of electromagnetic wave to carry information, and takes the three-dimensional constellation space as the modulation constellation, showing infinite potential. However, there are still many problems to be solved in existing polarization modulation technology. The existing modulation framework uses the orthogonal bipolarized antenna to receive and transmit signals. When the signal is incident at any angle, the orthogonal bipolarized antenna is used to receive signals, which makes the received information incomplete and causes serious distortion.Polarization modulation research is often distinguished from the traditional amplitude, phase and frequency modulation, which wastes a lot of resources. In the aspect of polarization judgment, there is a lack of specific technology, and many judgment methods are too general to be applied to engineering practice.Firstly, the polarization information processing and polarization modulation technology are summarized, and the research of polarization modulation technology is analyzed. The polarization forms of electromagnetic wave are introduced, and several polarization description methods and their relations are analyzed. In order to solve the shortcomings of traditional polarization modulation framework,a new polarization modulation framework is proposed, including polarization modulation framework and multi-dimensional modulation framework based on polarization characteristics. The traditional orthogonal bipolarized antenna is used in the transmitter and the three-dimensional vector antenna is used in the receiver. After controlling the amplitude and phase of the two carriers, the transmitter transmits the signal through the orthogonal dual polarization antenna. The receiver receives the signal through the three-dimensional vector antenna, then decodes the signal after sampling, coordinate transformation, polarization decision and so on.Finally, the bit error rate of polarization modulation is analyzed.Furthermore, the polarization channel is modeled in different ways, and the advantages and disadvantages of various modeling methods are analyzed. The mechanism of polarization mode dispersion, polarization dependent loss and cross polarization discrimination are studied. The influence of polarization correlation loss and cross polarization discrimination on polarization modulation performance is analyzed. In view of the problems existing in the current polarization decision technology,a polarization decision method is proposed.Firstly, the signals received by the three-dimensional vector antenna are transformed into two-way signals by coordinate transformation, then the amplitude of the two-way signals is determined by the analytic signal method, then the phase difference of the two-way signals is determined by the orthogonal frequency conversion method or the analytic signal method, and finally the polarization form of the electromagnetic wave is determined by the amplitude ratio and phase difference of the two-way signals.Simulation results show the effectiveness of this method...
