Research On The Characteristics Of Chinese Excellent Reviewers Group Based On Publons

Peer review has always been regarded as one of the best technology evaluation methods,which plays an important role in ensuring the quality of research.However,with the development of science and technology and the progress of society,the traditional single-blind and double-blind peer review is challenged because of the transparency that cannot meet the academic requirements.Many scholars advocate open review,and Publons,a third-party platform,comes into being.Publons aims to recognize the best performing researchers globally in terms of the quality and quantity of peer review and is important for documenting and recognizing reviewer contributions.In order to recognize excellent reviewers who have made significant contributions,Publons awards the "Publons peer review award" every year.The winners were able to get their contributions recognized by recognizing early on the benefits and necessity of participating in an international review and by taking notice of the Publons platform.This group has strong academic ability and forward-looking vision.It is of great significance for the growth of reviewers to study the group characteristics of this group.This study selects the Chinese reviewers who have won the award as the research object.based on the number of articles published,number of manuscripts reviewed,number of words reviewed,number of service journals,and their gender,age,highest educational background,academic title,overseas experience and other biographical information,this study will make statistics,description,induction and elaboration on the status quo of the characteristics of the group of excellent reviewers in China.The results: The group of excellent reviewers in China is characterized by high professional titles,high educational background and a high proportion of young and middle-aged male scholars.Moreover,they all work in universities or research institutes and most of them have overseas experience.In addition,the number of reviewers in different disciplines,regions and universities is extremely uneven.According to the survey results,this paper analyzes the causes of the status quo of Chinese excellent group characteristics and draw some inspirations from that: ○a Scholars should be encouraged to participate in the review,and the promotion and dissemination of reviewers’ experience should be emphasized.○b The cultivation of women scholars and young scholars should be strengthened.○c Improve English writing ability and promote communication among scholars.○d Pay attention to the balanced development of different disciplines,regions and universities.○e Pay attention to the resume information of scholars and find talents in time.○f Set up files of reviewers and personal credit system.
