The present Master's Degree thesis is a monographic study from a philological perspective on the literary style of the poet Li He.Taking as a starting point some relevant discussions on the subject, our investigation engages in a deeper exploration of the reasons that gave rise to such discussions, and provides a further analysis on Li He's unique concept of poetic style,as well as his poetry composition characteristics. In particular, the core of the Chapter I is the research on Li He's Outer Collection.Striving to establish a reliable range of literary materials for the study of his poetic style,we tackle in a novel way such issues as the sources and the circulation of this antology's editions,as well as its authenticity.Throughout the present study,we bring about new viewpoints on some important edition problems and,at the same time, carry out an introspection on the authenticity discrimination methods employed in previous scholarship.Chapter ? focuses on the research problems regarding the particular cases of two poems from the Outer Collection:Bai Men Qian(Before the White Door)and Nan Yuan(South Garden). In the first part,we employ a style discrimination method in order to examine and identify the possible "twin-text connection" between Bai Men Qian and another poem,Shang Zhi Hui(Emperor Wu of Han on an Expedition to Huizhong). In the second part,we introduce the controversy about Li He's poetry lacking or not qilv(metrical seven-word poems),and then further discuss the authenticity of the poem Nan Yuan,Li He's awareness on grouped poems creation, among other problems. In the third chapter,we mainly seek to resolve the controversy regarding the determination of Li He's guti yuefu(ancient-style odes)contents list, and further reflect on the literary essence of both guti yuefu and xin yuefu(new odes). These are the premises for discovering the unique derivation pattern in the texts of Li He's guti yuefu. The discussion in Chapter ? unfolds around the interpretations and the poetic style of the poem Nao Gong(Angry with My Beloved Man). Here, our main purpose is to illustrate Li He's unique composition awareness of diluting the boundary of poetic style.
