| Exercises are an important vehicle for promoting students’ knowledge understanding and application, developing problem-solving skills, and an important means of assessing students’ academic quality. As one of the important evaluation tools of classroom teaching, the design of textbook exercises should promote students’ core knowledge mastery and problem-solving ability enhancement, and develop students’ core literacy in subject subjects. Therefore,an in-depth analysis of textbook exercises is conducive to improving the rational application of exercises by teachers and promoting the comprehensive implementation of core literacy in chemistry;at the same time,a comparative study of textbook exercises on both sides of the Taiwan Strait can further deepen the exchange and cooperation between secondary school chemistry teaching on both sides of the Strait and also provide a reference for good development on the mainland. This study takes the high school chemistry textbook published by Hanlin Publishing Co.,Ltd.revised in 2016 and the chemistry textbook of the general high school curriculum standards published by People’s Education Publishing House in the first edition in June 2019 as the objects of the study, and compares and analyzes the textbook exercises on both sides of the Taiwan Strait through quantitative research methods.Firstly,we selected the exercises in the chapters of "Structural Basis of Matter and Chemical Reaction Law" and "Simple Organic Compounds and Their Applications" from the textbooks on both sides of the Taiwan Strait. The selected exercises were categorized according to the two-dimensional matrix classification criteria of "content-performance" of the component display theory, and the design of the exercises in the textbooks on both sides of the Taiwan Strait was analyzed from the perspectives of content and performance dimensions, and the characteristics of the exercises in the existing textbooks were sorted out.In response to the characteristics of the statistical analysis results, questionnaire and interview methods were adopted to investigate and study the current situation of the use of textbook exercises, the content and performance dimensions of textbook exercises, context creation, and question setting, respectively,in a high school in D city. The use of textbook exercises by students and teachers was summarized. Finally, the exercises in the PEP textbook should be improved in several ways, such as introducing academic literature appropriately, increasing the number of calculation questions, raising the difficulty of the exercises appropriately, increasing the types of student activities in open-ended questions, and rationalizing the layout design of the exercises,in order to enhance the intrinsic value and the feeling of using the textbook exercises. |
