As a mathematical language,mathematical symbols play an important role in the expression and communication of mathematics.In the mathematics curriculum standard for compulsory education(experimental draft),the "sense of symbols" is proposed for the first time.In the mathematics curriculum standard for compulsory education(2011Edition),the word "sense of symbols" is replaced by "sense of symbols",And regard it as one of the "ten core concepts".The content of mathematics curriculum in the stage of compulsory education is obviously more abstract from the second stage.This stage is also an important period for the development of students' symbolic consciousness,and the third stage is the key period for the formation of students' symbolic consciousness.Analyzing and solving the problems and obstacles in students' formation of mathematical symbolic consciousness at this stage is conducive to the formation and improvement of students' symbolic consciousness.In this paper,through the sorting and analysis of relevant literature,according to the students' ability to apply mathematical symbols,the consciousness of mathematical symbols is divided into three dimensions: the perception and representation of mathematical symbols,the operation and reasoning of mathematical symbols,and the expansion and association of mathematical symbols.Using the method of questionnaire survey,the students of a junior middle school in Heihe City were tested.The design of the test paper solicited the suggestions of many teachers and experts,and analyzed the data such as reliability and validity,so as to ensure the scientificity and credibility of the test results.SPSS,and other data analysis software are used to analyze the test results in many aspects,including the analysis of students' different performance levels in each dimension,the analysis and comparison of students' levels in different dimensions,and the correlation analysis of different dimensions.In order to avoid one-sided of the survey,we interviewed the students and teachers who answered the typical test papers,and got the conclusion about the current situation of students' symbol consciousness: on the whole,students' mathematical symbol perception and representation,operation and reasoning level are high,and the level of expansion and Association is low.Among them,the operation and reasoning dimension performs best.However,in the operation and reasoning dimension,The difference of performance level among students is the largest.We need to pay attention to the improvement of mathematical symbol consciousness of students with lower level,and the ability between different dimensions has high relevance.We should pay attention to the overall improvement of symbol consciousness.It is a strategy to improve the students' awareness of symbols in the teaching of mathematics.In the process of building up the awareness of symbols in the teaching unit,it is necessary to analyze and improve the students' awareness of symbols for a long time;Pay attention to the improvement of the level of mathematical symbol consciousness in each dimension in unit teaching;Pay attention to the transition between different dimensions of mathematical symbol consciousness in unit teaching;The "gradual" cultivation of mathematical symbol consciousness in unit teaching;Comprehensively develop the consciousness of mathematical symbols in the solution of unit problems.Taking the "parallelogram" element as an example,the teaching research is carried out combined with the proposed strategy.
