Since 2019,the history textbooks of all provinces and cities across the country have been gradually changed to new ones compiled by the Ministry of Education.Different from the topic-oriented old versions,the new textbooks adopt the general history style and the content of each lesson is comparatively large,which goes against the tight teaching schedule,thus posing great challenges to our daily teaching about how to make a balance and make a choice.In face of new challenges,large unit teaching has been constantly mentioned as an effective teaching method,which,simply put,refers to the rearrangement and optimization of the content from the perspective of a unit according to the requirements of different knowledge points,reorganizing teaching with a systematic and integrated idea to enable learners to acquire the learning of a relatively complete unit of knowledge.Judging from the current teaching practice,front-line teachers have conducted certain practical researches on how to employ the large unit teaching model in teaching process,among which the large-unit-based handout is regarded as a considerably beneficial model.Schedule being tight,daily lesson plans cannot be in accordance with unit content;at the same time,much knowledge cannot be covered because of the limited time.And the large-unit-based handout becomes a remarkable alternative due to the emphasis of autonomous learning in the process.Besides,the application of the large-unit-based handout in teaching is conducive to cultivating students' inquiry ability in the context of the implementation of the new textbooks.Furthermore,it can also enhance students' autonomous learning ability and cultivate core literacy of history the subject,which reflects the requirements of curriculum reform.This article starts with the introduction part of the history textbooks compiled by the Ministry with the help of large-unit-based handouts.Based on literature review and investigation,this article explores the strategies of applying large-unit-based handouts in teaching relying mainly on action research.
