STEM education is the abbreviation of Science,Technology,Engineering and Mathematics education.Its core concept is multidisciplinary integration.As a special education project,STEM education is having a continuous impact on the educational practice of high schools.School-based curriculum is an important supplement to national curriculum.STEM education requires STEM school-based curriculum development,and a basic development model is the "target model".STEM education and school-based curriculum development in high schools in northern Guangdong are currently being explored.On the one hand,STEM education is gradually being carried out.On the other hand,there are many misunderstandings.STEM school-based curriculum development is a complex process,which requires careful design and scientific management.STEM school-based curriculum development requires technical details in the micro level,as well as in the meso level,including the formation of a development team,the formulation of development principles,and the choice of development strategies,etc.The focus of this article is on the latter.In the process of school-based curriculum development,the school is the center of curriculum decision-making,so a STEM school-based curriculum development team must be formed,which includes the selection of team members,optimization of team structure,cultivation of team culture,improvement of team working methods,etc.STEM school-based curriculum development is not an arbitrary behavior.It needs to follow some basic principles and ensure the scientificity and rationality of these principles,such as regional principles,complementarity principles,scientific principles,and development principles.In the process of curriculum development,effective strategies need to be adopted.For example,in the course objectives,attention should be paid to the tension between certainty and generativeness,and the choice of course content must ensure the balance between knowledge development and students' needs.In addition,in the implementation of the curriculum,organic integration and the respect for traditions should coexist,and in course evaluation,the goal orientation and process orientation should be complementary.The management measures of the above three aspects can be clarified in conjunction with the actual situation of STEM school-based curriculum development in high schools in northern Guangdong.The development of STEM education in China is an educational event that cannot be ignored.It may have a profound impact on high school education in China.Therefore,special attention and research in this field are required.
