Reading is the foundation of learning and the soul of lifelong development.In the new teaching reform of 2020,the number of words and the number of reading questions have been increased,which also shows that the state attaches importance to students' reading education and reading ability.However,reading education in primary schools in rural areas still faces many difficulties.Encouraged by the government,some caring individuals and non-profit organizations voluntarily help rural primary schools develop extracurricular reading education through aid materials and publicize new reading concepts,and improve and develop rural education.Reading "Mengfeixiang" funding project is one of them.Since 2007,Hong Kong beloved Mr.Leung Weiming and his team have promoted the reading work of primary and secondary schools through the construction of libraries and the promotion of reading projects in the Mainland.Cultivate students' reading interest and reading habits,implement cultivation education,provide reading training for rural teachers,and assist schools in establishing a systematic reading education culture.The Reading "Mengfeixiang" funded project is currently mainly invested in Hunan.Shuangfeng County where the author is located is a demonstration county for the Reading "Mengfeixiang" project.It has carried out reading funding work for 14 years and has achieved certain results.This paper selects three Reading "Mengfeixiang" project schools in Shuangfeng County as the research object,based on the literature,using questionnaire method and interview method to investigate the basic situation of extracurricular reading in the project-funded schools.The survey shows that the reading development education of project-funded schools has been initially formed;the reading concepts of teachers and students in project-funded schools have gradually changed,and students love reading;project-funded schools are promoting teaching reform through extracurricular reading.At the same time,The projects encounter difficulties in the implementation process,such as: poor management of the reading work of the project elementary school;weak teachers' enthusiasm for participating in the reading project;students lacking willpower in the extracurricular reading project,etc.Reading funding projects are also facing problems such as lack of effective management,insufficient funding personnel,and difficulty in changing reading concepts.The main reasons are that there are shortcomings in the policy system,conflicts in reading concepts,inadequate implementation of reading education,and inadequacy of subsidized projects.In order to optimize the effectiveness of project funding,it is necessary to take advantage of the actual situation,starting from the three aspects of increasing government guidance and support for funded projects,optimizing the service process of reading projects,and making full use of reading funding resources by aided primary schools.The development of extracurricular reading in primary schools,the smooth progress of reading project activities and their promotion provide reference and reference.
