| Taking notes in the process of learning using video can effectively promote students’ fine processing and knowledge transformation. However, there are many ways to take notes. In practical operation, there are pure text notes and mind map notes, and studies have proved that mind map notes are better than text notes. The theory of Existentialism "being in the world" enlightens us that using drawing to express knowledge and process information may help students record and transform information better.Whether such enlightenment is effective in reality, mind map as a special form of "map",which effect is better than "drawing" notes,is the main problem that this study wants to explore. In this study, note taking forms in video learning are divided into three types: pure text note, mind map note and drawing note. The effects of the three note taking forms on students’ knowledge understanding, memory retention, skill transfer and learning engagement are analyzed, and whether the three note taking forms will cause different cognitive load on students is analyzed Through the analysis of note feeling, note content and self-reflection,we can further explore the deep reasons for different results. The research adopts the quasi experimental research method, selects the third year undergraduates of a normal university as the experimental object, and carries out a six week teaching experiment. The experimental results show that for the skill class of video content learning:(1)drawing notes can significantly improve students’ skill transfer and learning engagement;(2)Note taking form of mind map can significantly improve students’ knowledge understanding and memory retention;(3)The form of drawing notes is helpful for students to have more accurate self-cognition in learning;(4)When the task is appropriate, drawing notes does not significantly increase students’ cognitive load;(5)Detailed notes can not help students learn better. |
