Research On Modular Design Of Teaching Geography Based On Situational Teaching Method

With the deepening of Chinese 8th curriculum reform,Geography teaching should focus on full implementation of key competence according to the new curriculum standards,which brings both opportunities and challenges.Therefore,unit teaching has become a hot area of research.This paper will promote a scientific and effective strategy of modular methods of Geography teaching combined with situational teaching.First of all,based on teaching theories,I designed a systematic scheme for the chapter of Ocean in the Geography textbooks published by Chinese Cartographic Press.I built teaching situation in order to motivate students to explore and solve problems.In addition,a series of questions was used to help students integrate fragments of knowledge into a system.Then,I carried out a teaching experiment in our school.Students in Grade 10 were tested twice before and after classroom practice.It is analyzed that despite the different levels of students' knowledge and abilities,modular design of Geography teaching based on the situational teaching method is effective.Not only the ability of transferring knowledge,but also problem-solving skills were highly improved.However,shortcomings were exposed as well.Individual differences among students increased because not all students were adapted to the new teaching mode.Furthermore,teaching situation left a deeper impression on students instead of knowledge since revision and consolidation were not enough.At last,thanks to the release of new Geography textbook,I adjusted and optimized teaching methods again so that the results of the research can be put into future practice.
