As the main source of national fiscal revenue, tax plays an important role in better performing the function of public service and optimizing the allocation of government resources. However, tax evasion has always been a widespread phenomenon in the economic development of various countries. In order to reduce operating costs, enterprises have adopted various tax avoidance methods, leaving more wealth resources that should have been handed over to the state within the enterprises, which not only damages the solemnity of tax laws and hinders the fairness and justice of Taxation, but also has a great impact on the government's tax management and social welfare,Therefore,it has also become a hot topic in practice and academia.Under the background of modern management system, the principal-agent problem caused by the continuous development of the separation structure of enterprise two rights provides a new perspective for the study of enterprise tax evasion. After reading the relevant literature,it is not difficult to find that the literature on the impact of female executives on corporate tax avoidance is still insufficient.Different from male executives, female executives' unique values such as risk aversion, non overconfidence and strong self-moral binding will inevitably have a variety of effects on tax avoidance. At the same time,as an important enterprise internal management system, internal control plays an indispensable role in alleviating the principal-agent problem and improving the efficiency of enterprise governance. Will it alleviate the agency conflict of enterprise tax avoidance? Can female executives affect the tax avoidance behavior of enterprises by acting on the internal control of enterprises?Based on the above discussion, this paper selects China's A-share listed companies from2016 to 2020 as an empirical sample to study the impact of female executives on tax evasion from two aspects on the basis of principal-agent theory, information asymmetry theory,high-level echelon theory and female leadership style theory.First, based on the intermediary effect of internal control, this paper puts female executives, internal control and enterprise tax avoidance in an analytical framework,so as to study the internal relationship between the three. After verifying the impact of female executives on enterprise tax avoidance, this paper introduces the intermediary effect theory to verify the intermediary role of internal control between female executives and tax avoidance.Second, study whether the specific characteristics of female executives will have an impact on corporate tax evasion.Based on the existing research, this paper mainly analyzes the impact of the specific characteristics of female executives on corporate tax evasion from the age and education of female executives. Finally, the robustness of the empirical conclusion is verified by using alternative variables, propensity score matching and quantile regression. The research is as follows:(1)female executives will inhibit corporate tax evasion;(2)There is a positive correlation between female executives and the quality of internal control, and internal control plays an intermediary role between female executives and corporate tax evasion;(3)The younger the female executives are and the higher their education, the stronger the inhibition of corporate tax avoidance. The above conclusions have certain practical significance for the diversified construction of enterprise senior management team, reducing the occurrence of tax evasion and promoting the long-term development of enterprises.
